    Hello everyone,
I am thinking of giving a slight blow to my old notebook once i need one to install Linux Debian distribution and experiment with them. The thing is that my notebook has only 256Mb ram. Has anyone idea about how much ram (max) and what kind i can buy in order to be compatible?

    Thanks in advance,
    A.

The max is 1GB and it uses PC2700 memory according to this?

Hello and thanks for the quick response!

The thing is that this notebook has only one ram-socker free that i can see when i open the under cover. The other dimm i m not sure i can find it - i cant see it. In my other notebook i can access both ram dimms - they are one over the other.
When you say 1Gb you mean that i can use 1 dimm of 1Gb ram in this socket or i have to find and remove the other dimm and put 2 dimms of 512 Mb?

    Thanks a lot!

    A.

Most likely it's under the keyboard.

Yes but when it is said that a notebook can get up to 1Gb what is usually meant is that it can hold up to 1Gb overall or it can take a dimm of 1Gb on its free slot?

I don't know whether you can use a 1GB stick.
