    Hi everyone!

I'm trying to setup my sisters new laptop to run clone-view (dual-view, with external monitor), but I cant seem to get it to display more than 1280x800 on the external monitor.

1280x800 is the maximum resolution for the laptop screen, I am aware of that, but I really would like to make the external resolution go a little higher if possible :)

I tried to do it with a VideoSeven L22WD 22" TFT flatscreen capable of 1680x1050, but it would only go as high as 1280x800 through the DVi-port in clone mode, using ATi CATALYST control center. Onboard graphics are ATi Radeon X1400. The control panel has some kind of force-HD feature, but I couldnt get it working

So well, I would like to ask if anyone knew how to change the external-monitor resolution to something higher than 1280x800 :) possibly 1440x900 for this monitor http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=324781

    Full laptop specs:

    Core2duo T5600 1,83ghz
    2x 512MB DDR533
    120GB SATA HDD
    15.4" WXGA crystal view
    ATi Mobility Radeon X1400 128MB GDDR2, DVi-out
    And so on :)

    Thanks in advance guys!

    Welcome to NBR :)

You may want to try this: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/multires.shtm

But I can usually set my second monitor to a different resolution very easily. After right click on desktop, going to Properties, then something like Options (tab which is most right). Then you can click on the secondary monitor, and change its resolution.

But maybe DVI is different, not sure though.

    Good luck.

    Thank you very much :D

Thanks, I'll just have a look at the link :)

Yeah I think what you are explaining is the windows-way of changing monitor-order and resolution and so on. I think I played around a bit with it, but maybe i ought to try again :) I dont think I was able to raise the res. though. DVI might be different, dont know

I wonder if the Omega drivers might change anything? Btw. I didnt mention that the machine is running XP Media Center Edition :)

Well Omega drivers are nice when it comes to performance and I find their lay out better then Catalyst Control Center (more clear and all). But you might want to try it. Version 7.1/7.2 should do fine.

    Good luck! :)

Hm I tried Multires, but it seems to be for fast resolution-change on one monitor only?

The windows standard thingy doesnt work either, it can only span onto an external monitor, and make it the primary monitor if thats what I wanted. Spanning works great with 1680x1050 on the external monitor, and 1280x800 on the laptop-one though. But what I am looking for is a cloned-image, with both monitors showing the same stuff, with the same resolutions as described :)

Should this be possible at all? Maybe the graphics-card cant do it? Anyone know anything about that? :)

And btw, the Omega display-tool didnt work either :( But it showed that the monitors max res. is 1920x1080 although it is 1680x1050 :p

    Pretty wierd stuff...

If maximum resolution is 1920x1080 then you should be able to choose 1680x1050. But try the Windows way, it should do.

The max res. of the monitor is 1680x1050, I know for at fact cuz its my monitor and I use it daily, hehe :)

Yeah well, it can only do as I want in span-mode, and thats not what I want :'(

Does it make a difference, that she's running XP Media Center Edition?
