Hi, i'm on the lookout for a new laptop and currently i'm tipping between the Asus G1 or the fujitsu amilo pi 1556. But since it's really really cheap compared to other models i'm worried about the build quality. Currently it goes for €1060/$1402 vs €1845/$2440 for the G1 here. So if it's really an ok laptop, it's a good amount of money to save. But does anyone here have one or have any experience with it? I've been told by a mate that his girlfriends fujitsu isn't very good and feels cheap (a $1250 fujitsu bought a year ago), and it doesn't look very stable either  to be honest. Of course it's one of those laptops where it's impossible to find any info or reviews what so ever, so if there is a guy on this forum that has one, would you care to share your oppinion about it?

    Thanks!

I don't have one, however, I can give you some information on it. The build quality is mostly the same across the Fujitsu Siemens range. The majority are built very well, and are very sturdy. The chassis is the same as the Alienware M5550, so you could look at some reviews for it. The plastic on the Fujitsu Siemens notebook is probably the only visual let down, but it is fine for normal use, so long as you look after the notebook.

Ok, thanks for the input :). I can see you have a xi 1546, do you know if it's the same quality wise as the 15,4" in the 1556, though just in a 17" version instead?
Are you satisfied with your screen?

Yes, the build quality is practically the same. The chassis for the 17" and 15.4" notebooks aren't massively different, either. The only difference is the width, and a slightly lesser length with the 15.4 " notebooks. I am more than happy with my screen. It is something that sets this notebook out from the others. Have a look at the Xi 1546 review, and you should be able to get a good idea of the build quality and screen.
