I've been thinking about purchasing the A6120 for the new cooler processors and the 450 nit screen. I am hesitant because I cannot see this laptop in person and if I customize it with the better screen I can't easily return it either. I'm mostly concerned about how hot this laptop gets and keyboard flex. Any personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about the 6210, but I am planning on getting one of these two...
    A6110 or A3210.
    I'm leaning toward the A3120.
Have you heard anything about these..?
As far as A6210, the price is awesome for what you get.

I am also planning to buy either A6110 or A6120 pretty soon.
However, there is a problem that confuses me.
When I went to Frys and look at those A series Demos, including
A6025, A6110(one with T5450 the other one with T7250), A6120, their LCD displays are obviously different.
    from the best to worse:
    A6120=A6110(T7250)=A6030 > A6025=A6110(T5450)
The screen on the better ones are far superior. The color and sharpness
are brilliant, and the LCDs are slightly lighter. But for the other two, I would say they are about the same as the HP models.
The weird thing is all of their LCDs configuration are stated as 300nits ( I think all of the factory models are the same).
So make sure to go check the specific model you are buying. The display is going to be either day or night.

The processors shouldn't change screen quality.. the A6110 comes with both a 300nit and a 450nit screen. Is it possible one fo the A6110 you saw was the 300 and the other the 450? Or perhaps their settings were just different.. I have no way of seeing the computer in person before buying unless I feel like driving days across multiple states :( I'm going for the A6120 anyway so you think that screen is one of the good ones right? If I wanted an HP quality screen I'd pay less for the HP :(

Can anyone confirm that Fujitsu uses multiple screens on the same model? I know that like the screens across models aren't necessarily the same.. not all 15.4" screens are the same but all the A6110 300 nit screens should be the same.. no?

For pre-configured models if you can find the part number you can look the specs up that way. I think it is unlikely they would use two different screens on the same part number unless it is a CTO model. A different screen would necessitate a new part number.

Thank you ZaZ. Hopefully someone also interested in these Lifebooks and has local access can do some research for the rest of us. There may be a Microcenter which has a A6110 in stock an hour's drive from here. I will try to look into this. They don't seem to have the A6120 yet though.

How do I find the part number for the screen? I found the part number for the notebook.. but not the screen. Part number for this preconfigured notebook is FPCR32379, but I was unable to find anything out about the screen. It's the only one they have so I have nothing to compare it to either.

UPDATE: Okay I went to microcenter today and I was SHOCKED. There were two models of Fujitsu A6110 (both with t5xxx processors.. none of the T7xxx) and they had the worst screens out of every single solitary laptop in the entire store. I mean they were AWFUL. The lighting was really uneven, the screen was soft, the colors were dull and extremely washed out worse than any current laptop I've seen, and it was very grainy too. I'm scared to buy a Fujitsu now.. everyone says how awesome the screens are supposed to be so I do not understand. I tried playing with the display settings and even thought initially maybe it wasn't on the native resolution, but it was. I'd say the best screens were the Sony and the Asus F9/G2 notebooks they had. I liked all three of those very much. A couple of Toshiba's were pretty ok and one HP in particular (there were tons and for some reason this one really stood out) looked really very nice and sharp. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do now but I would REALLY reccomend people who are screen picky go see the laptop in person first.

I can't help but think maybe there was something wrong with the ones I saw.. I mean it couldn't have even been up for interpretation. The screen looked like someone had gone over it with a high density eraser brush it was so washed out. I kept messing with settings and my viewing angle but I couldn't fix it. Soooo soft too.. Softest screen on a notebook running native resolution in the store. I just don't know what to make of it :( I've seen photos of Fujitsu screens in reviews that don't look anything like these..

I think .. *sigh* I'm just going to go for the A6120 with the 450 nit screen. And since Fujitsu has a zero return policy under any circumstances, if I don't like it I will just try to resell it on ebay or something and go get a Sony. Saw some Macbook pros at Microcenter too. Almost.. allllmost desperate enough to go mac. Not yet though :D Just can’t make myself buy the notebook just to run windows off bootcamp LOL

from what i gathered from the fujitsu rep, if you dont re-configure it, then there's 15 days no questions asked...i would call tham maybe again and clarify that.

Yes, you're right. However, I can't get the 450 nit screen on any model without reconfiguring it. I could get a 370 nit on the N6470.. but I don't think I want anything that big and heavy to carry around.

i am going w/fujitsu as well.
Appears to be very reliable....built in japan is a plus, lifetime callcenter support is a bigger plus.....and, callcenter in usa.
Let us know what you do!
(i like the A3210 as well)

Yes all those things do seem to be a plus for it. Believe it or not the only things I really care about is the screen quality and the heat control (build quality coming second to those). Looking at most LCDs tend to give me migraines. I have a CRT attached to my desktop because I couldn't satisfactorily come close to the color renditions and shadow detail on a lcd. I'm not totally ignorant enough to think I’m going to make this happen on a notebook, but I just want to get as close as I can.

Good luck on your Fujitsu! I hope we both get what we’re looking for :)

Most of the parts are made in China so I don't see assembly in Japan as a big deal. USA based support however is a nice plus.

It may be better from an ethical standpoint.... depending on your ethics. I think that the quality probably is higher because Fujitsu is a Japanese company, and they are making (or putting together) their own laptops. This means that they will potentially have a greater interest in and ability to fix any problems that occur at the assembly stage or before their products are shipped.

exactly, and they do make alot of the actual electronic pieces in the unit, which even if they were made in China, (which has come along way I hear), they're at leat using parts thay had QC over...
And I notice you pay more for a fujitsu, but you pay more for a toyota over any american car....enough said there.

I've seen various HP dv6000 series models at three different stores now and each time the screen jumped out at me as being superior to the other screens. Found out tonight they use an LG Philips screen.. The screen is very evenly lit with no light leakage at all. It's also quite sharp with vibrant colors. I feel that it will calibrate out very well. When you get your Fujitsu could you check and see what screen you're using and post? I'd appreciate it.

I once thought i read they used Samsung lcd's on some models.
But then Fujitsu makes LCD's as well, so I wouldnt be surprised if they were fujitsu's...
they make LCD tv's but not for here in the states, (unless I'm wrong about that), they could make them for someone else.
I do know that other manufacturers use fujitsu hard drives in their laptops.

Yes, they have nice screens and touch pads, but i'm always hearing bad reliability stories....otherwise i would have considered them along time ago.
I read in PC Mag the laptops listed as most reliable are Fujitsus, although the amount of users were less, (they are not carried everywhere, which is also a plus, they can spend an extra minute on the model they are building)...
I'll try to score you the link if interested....

Friendly bump.. If anyone knows who makes the 450nit screen on this laptop I would be very appreciative.. Or someone who has seen one and can tell me if there is any light leakage/uneven lighting or grainyness..

I bought an A6120 about 2 months ago. Fixed overheating problem easily with undervolting (found here, NBR). 450 nit screen is essential for me, being50+ ha ha. Everest 4.5 says the LCD panel is Fujitsu made. Also, the US tech center does not return emails, only phone & chat (newbie level). XP drivers are on the website if you're up to stripping Vista. I like the 5 USB ports and an external Seagate FreeAgent 500GB drive works on the 1394 port right out of the box. So far, so good but with no thanks to Team-Fujitsu-USA.
