    Are Fujitsu notebooks reliable and long lasting?

    My third notebook ever was a Fujitsu P5020 900mhz subnotebook (with optical drive!) that lasted from 2003 until earlier this year under constant use (gave it to a relative many years ago and was recently informed it finally stopped working). Not too shabby, I guess!

    I have a Fuji tablet that has been at work with me everyday for about 7 months. This thing is built like a tank and it's about to go to my college student daughter as soon as I get a Fuji Q584 when it is released in December.

    Build like a Tank?? This is a huge surprise! Atleast in India, they are dumping flimsy laptops.I have a Fujitsu LH531 Laptop that has had a keyboard failure twice within a year of purchase. They dont even stock replacements (apparently replacements have to be imported from Germany, I have wasted 6 months of my two year warranty waiting for parts) leading me to wonder whether they are dumping lemons in India.

    I would go with a Dell anyday: responsive support who take ownership of their product. Well build backed by an established support structure.

    What he says is true. What you say is also true.

    After owning two brand new Fujitsu laptops within 12 months, and selling one in a local classifieds ad, I can honestly say Fujitsu makes laptops in Japan and outside of Japan. It's the Japanese models that's built like a tank... It will say "Made in Japan" on the bottom of the laptop. But, how to tell w/o owning the actual laptop? Fujitsu will state it in their online brochure "Made in Japan quality". Or, you can visit Fujitsu.jp via website translator and find out which models they're selling to the domestic Japanese market AND see if they're selling the same model (but with an English keyboard, etc.) in your home country. 99.9% of the time, it's just a simple keyboard swap/BIOS language set/pre-installed cloned HDD with English OS coming of the Shimane factory in Japan...

    Or, you can just email Fujitsu and ask them...

    My T5010 is about 5 years old and works perfectly fine so I wanted know how other Fujitsu laptops and tablets are holding up after normal use.

    I have ah530 for 5 years.I dropped it four times;around my belly size.I m not an hobbit :D

    I m 1.75 cm.My laptop works well.Not a scratch on the case.

    I have had really bad luck with my T732.
    I have had it for 20 months (Purchased in Feb 2013). It has had 5 warranty claims and had to be sent back 4 times (the only time it didn't was when they sent me a new pen).
    It has been at the service centre in Germany (I live in the UK) for a total of 6 months. That is, almost 1/3 of the ownership time it has been away being repaired.
    The length of repairs has taken as long as 3 months while they wait for spare parts to arrive.
    Two of the repairs introduced new faults.

    First repair: Wifi not working out of the box. Time to repair: 2 months
    Second: Pen stopped working. They sent me a new pen so I didn't need to send in my notebook
    Third: Debris developed under screen. Time to repair: 1 month. When I got it back, the notebook screen no longer turned off when the lid was closed, meaning the screen registered touches on the touchscreen when the notebook was closed.
    Fourth: Backlight died and USB3.0 was found to not work. Time to repair: 3 months. When I got it back, only the left side of the touchpad was working, and only on the x axis
    Fifth: Repair touch pad. Time to repair: 2 weeks.

    My unit is made in Japan.

    Just hope that you never need to make a warranty claim; the Fujitsu support guy told me I should get an alternative notebook while I wait for mine to get repaired because he was not able to give me a timeframe on the repair completion.

    I have my T732 back now and everything from the motherboard, wifi card, touchpad, keyboard, screen, pen and webcam has been replaced at least once, so hopefully there will be no more issues with it.

    The parts under the hood are either from Foxconn or Quantra. Plus, the screen on the T732 twists up to 180 degrees horizontally. So, it probably caused the Wi-Fi antenna embedded in the screen to become loose. Anyways, when I buy the regular non-convertible Fujitsu laptop, I buy it for the Japanese-made chassis and BIOS custom tailored to Fujitsu. One thing I admire about Fujitsu (unlike most Dells), I don't need to turn down the volume just a few pixels above zero in order not to become deaf...
