I'm picky on my LCDs and someone suggested I look into Fijitsu. Problem is there aren't any in town and their return policy is crappy, so if I don't like it I'm stuck with it. I was wondering which notebook is considered to have the BEST LCD? By best I don't necessarily mean the highest resolution. I actually do not like looking at tiny text. I just want it to look awesome.. and run cool. Suggestions?

Other computer being considered are the Toshiba P205 and Sony SZ series. I was considering Lenovo.. but apparently the LCD is a crap shoot.

from what i understand they give 15 days no questions asked.....
thats enough time I would think.
There crystal view screens are awesome.
Remember to consider this when looking into fujitsu....
    built in japan..
    USA callcenter
Phone support for the life of the notebook....
    Extremely reliable....

On pre-configured models this is true. But if I want to select my specs then there is no returns unless defective.

Since laptops are amongst the most returned products, if Fujitsu allowed a no questions asked return policy, they'd get stuck with a bunch of notebooks they'd have to sell at a loss. That would cause the purchase price of your notebook to increase significantly. So you can't have it both ways, paying the least while having the best return policy. Perhaps there is a pre-configured which closely matches your needs. You could check it out before deciding whether to keep it. You can make upgrades later. The hard drive and memory are easy to upgrade so I would be the least picky about those.

The Fujitsu Crystal View screens are the best glossy screens I've seen. I just saw a A3130 which had the 450 nit screen. It was gorgeous. Almost all laptop makers are clamping down on returns for the reasons stated above. It's sort of a leap of faith. If you are that picky about your screens, I would suggest buying your notebook at Costco where you'll get a 90 day no questions asked return policy. It will probably limit your selection and cost more.

There are a lot of places around here which have a total satisfaction guarantee.. I guess Fujitsu is just out though because yeah I’m really not willing to shell out over a thousand dollars for something on faith where the return policy doesn’t allow the owner to be satisfied with the investment. And the preconfig models just seem to be needing a little tweaking. I'm also concerned about heat and I know at least a couple of them run too hot for my taste. I don't want to end up stuck with one of those either.

Laptops are getting very hard to return. Most places have a restocking fee if they let you return it at all. Dell is probably the best amongst the major manufacturers. You used to be able to return ThinkPads for 30 days with no questions asked. Those days are gone.

Man the more I think about it the more I really want to try this company.. I think I will get a preconfigured model and if I like it I will send it back and customize one. Now my only thing is the a6110 or the E8410. A6110 has that enhanced display but the e8410 has option to customize with XP instead of Vista..it also has the better processor.. Oooh A3130 is a possibility too. I'm really wondering if anyone has anything specific to say on how hot the laptop runs.

I thought I saw somewhere that if you order Vista Business or Ultimate Fujitsu is sending out XP restore discs with the notebooks as Vista Business and Ultimate include the right to downgrade to XP Pro. I'm not 100% sure, but it's worth looking into if you prefer XP. Then if at some point in the future you decide you want Vista, you'll have the option.

I've read reviews for a couple of these notebooks. You can probably find them on PCMag, PC World, Trusted Reviews, CNet, and this website.

Apparently the E8410 has a lot of case flex.. even around the keyboard and LCD. That's a big unfortunate turn off.. A3130 seems to be even worse in this reguard. Actually this seems to be a common problem with Fujitsu.. too bad.. anyone know any Fujitsu laptops without the cheap build/plastic flex problems?

I've typed on a few...they aren't as bad as you think with the flex....maybe I'm not as anal...well, no, anyone who hangs out here as much as me is anal, with serious OCD issues, look at how many things we ask about laptops, that nobody else would ever think about.....
Seriously, I like fujitsu's build...but that's me. I used a brand spanking new out of the box toshiba tecra that wasn't even level....the front right foot was slightly lifted up....now that's bad.
