I have a new, strange problem with either my battery or my battery indicator on my E8210. For days now, the LCD indicator (strip on top left) indicates that the power supply is plugged in (it is), and that the battery is charging, but the power level of the battery remains at only two stripes.
It didn't budge from two stripes even when I turned off the computer and left it charging overnight -- twice.
The computer is working so far -- plugged in -- but I'm obviously concerned about the battery and what it is that's wrong?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

What does Windows say about your battery life? Does it fully charge, does Windows indicate that your battery is at max?
If it is charged to full, it could be possible that the small LCD has dead pixels or is broken. You might want to check for that.
Good luck. -
Now I feel really stupid..I don't know where to look in Windows XP to check my battery status... Power options under control panel didn't have it.
Help, please? -
OK, I see that the battery status is supposed to be indicated in my system tray but for some reason it isn't. Anyway,I downloaded a nice piece of freeware called Battery Meter.
Unfortunately, that shows that it's not an LCD problem --I'm stuck at 42% power. Any other ideas?
Thanks! -

That's very weird... I am not familiar with that program. Can you please try Notebook Hardware Control. More reliable in my opinion.
If that one also says 42%, then I advice you to do a BIOS flash first. If that doesn't work:
Shut down the notebook, unplug the adapter, remove the battery (batteries), press the On/Off button for 10 seconds. Wait 1-2 minutes. Plug in the battery and the adapter and check if that worked. This is a so called BIOS resetting.
If that doesn't work, you need to calibrate your battery. You must contact F&S, maybe they have a software for the E8210. I couldn't find it under the drivers section.
If all those doesn't work: use the warranty of F&S. If you do not have warranty, you could kindly ask them to make an exception. They once accepted it with one of our notebooks.
Good luck. -
you can find the battery meter in start menu > control panel > power options
i would definitely suggest following what ns said above.
you might also want to try out battery calibration. there is some information about it in the hardware forum.
