    Battery problem in Lifebook E8210

    For the past few weeks, my battery has been reporting (via Windows Power Meter) a charge of between 29-37%, the LED panel indicates that it's charging and there are two squares in battery bar BUT

    (1) the battery, which is only one year old like the notebook itself, never gets above that charge percentage even when it's plugged in and turned off for days; and

    (2) it is totally unusable on battery -- worse, if the plug pulls out of the socket or the elctricty goes down, even for a second, the computer turns off (this despite the fact that I adjuted power settings in Control Panel so that it takes no action when power level lowers).

    Does anyone have any suggestions re what could be going on and what can I do about it?
