Hi everybody,
The other day the screen on my N5010 would light up. The windows are there and everything on the screen but it's dark and nearly black. There is no fade of anything just total lights out![]()
It seems that I can get a ccfl bulb for it for pretty cheap but what if it's the inverter that's bad?
Also, any tips on opening up the baby?
EDIT: 2 screws are hidden behind the round rubber thingies and 3 more on the hinge behind the little circles.
There is no ccfl that I can see at first view, it's probably behind "in" the lcd screen itself. I'll have to look closer.

Good luck
I have an N5010, but no problems. sorry I can't be of any help. Check the board out and look for blown capacitors, resistors, arcs, and so forth. Maybe see if you can check voltages at different points with a voltmeter so you can see if power in is getting back out the other side? Also, look for loose connections on the board- my prof had an Apple that got so hot some of the connections on the motherboard would come loose. Our machines get pretty hot, and I know that the bottom right side of my screen gets pretty warm. Is that where this little board is by any chance?

I wiggled wires and connections around down there, didn't change a thing. I'm gonna have to look at it closer tonight.
Black screen on N5010 - backlight ccfl or inverter?
