Bought a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M3435G yesterday. It's my first Fujitsu; I've owned an Emachines, a decent notebook overall, for about two years now.

For $1800 I got: Pentium M 750, 512 RAM, 256 Go 6800, 80 G 5400 HD, 17' wide glossy screen, a remote control, all possible I/O, a multiformat card reader, pretty much all bells and whistles. Ordered over the phone and had it delived to my office two hours later.

First impressions: I like it very much so far. Seems like it's strongly built using high quality materials. Nice clean sexy look. There's very little flex. Very quiet and cool compared to the Emachines I own which I can't even keep on my laps. Sound is excellent, well beyond notebook sound expectations. The screen is fantastic looking more like plasma than LCD while playing Doom 3 or Far Cry. There's one hick up about it though being glossy finish. With a light source behind, the screen looks some what ike a mirror, but trully shines in darker envuronment.

Performance is also very strong. I played Doom 3, Far Cry and BIA on nearly highest setting and it plays really smooth. Yet to benchmark it.

Here in Russia Fujitsu - Siemens has full 2 year warranty meaning all I have to do in case something goes wrong is simply take it to a nearest authorized service center. Pretty easy, unlike in the USA where I'd have to ship it to the manufacturer.

Again, so far I'm very plaesed. Will wait and see what happens.

Not true, I think they have similar service in the US.

And am I the only one who has never heard of this notebook? Perhaps they don't offer them in the US...
