So I've had my Fujitsu S2110 for about a 16 months or so and I've loved it up until recently.

About 2 weeks ago the fan seemingly broke. It's now loud and clicky; I can hear it constantly whirring in the background, but otherwise the system runs great. The only thing that bothers me is the NOISE. Even with the broken fan, the system doesn't run hot at all, maybe warm at best. I'm really disappointed because the laptop is fine and Fujitsu won't sell parts, and is making me send the system in for repairs for $230 + shipping and handling.

For those who have had a broken fan in their Fujitsu, what did you do? If you ended up sending it in out of warranty, how long did it take?

I would try to research and look for some other fujitsu models they might use the same fan. May try to look ebay for parts.

I been looking for parts for my laptop and end up find a seller by the name of janashoes sell all kinds of fujitsu parts models and you can try msg that seller if he/she got the fan for your model.

thing is the seller does charge alot but is the only seller that sells the most fujitsu parts I've known.

    hope that helps

Yes, thanks for the suggestion. I actually did already look on ebay and found the same dealer you mentioned and they had a fan.

Is replacing a fan hard to do, would you know? I tried opening up my Fujitsu to take a look at the fan, but the chassis seems to be quite stuck together, and I didn't want to pry and break something.

well I don't own a s2110, only taken out the fujitsu T4010 so it depends on laptops whatever steps you need to do.

But in my experience, you might need to find ways to take the keyboard off as the first step. It could be the bezel above the keyboard that holds the keyboard down

I once had a Fujitsu S2020 and the fan was also troublesome. In UK, I managed to get a replacement fan (for the S6xxx series, but it was the same) at reasonable cost through a major parts distributor although I never succeeded in getting the computer dismantled far enough to replace it.

A couple of suggestions: Ask Fujitsu sho handles their spare parts; ask Ivan at Portable One if he can help; they used to sell Fujitsu notebooks, should still be doing repairs for them and should know where to get the parts.

Another place to look for suggestions is the Other Fujitsu notebook forum at Leog.net, but it seems that the most recent enquiry about the S2020 fan didn't get any clear answers.

Thank you for the suggestions. I think I will email P1 and see if they can't help with dismantling the Fujitsu so a new fan can be installed; it was where I bought the Fujitsu from, so maybe they'll be a little bit more inclined to help. I will check out the websites you suggested. I think once I get the fan from eBay, my campus' IT people will replace it for me, I'm just hoping they will know how and not break my chassis or lose any screws in the process (since they usually work with ThinkPads, which are in my college's computer program). Thanks again!

I think the dismantling of the S2020 to get to the fan just takes time. I sold off my S2020 with its spare fan to a friend who eventually got fed up with the noise and managed to strip it down and make the change. Just try to avoid having too many parts remaining after reassembly!

    Hey Boon,

How did you manage to take the T4010 appart? I have tried several times but without success. My fan is making unbearable noise. Also a question for other members, this is a newbie sort of a question, is the fan in T4010 a special fujistu fan or can it be replaced with an ordinary laptop fan?

    Thanks!
    D.

Re the fan, if you are in Europe, you could try emailing sales at Service Source. I haven't used them recently but they always responded quickly.

Thanks John, but I am in Australia.

    Anyone else has any ideas?
