    umm...
I spent a month researching for computers
and I narrowed it down to the fujisu s6240
I bought it from portable one, great company,
and got it a week and a half later.

I purchased this computer from the reviews on notebookreview
and pc magazines laptop reliability review.

This notebook has not lived up to its build quality hype. I can push on the back of the screen and there is rippling. There is much flex if you puch the screen in opposite directions on the sides. The keyboard is very clicky, not solids thumps, and the mouse and track pad sound cheap when clicked and pushed. Like other plastic is moving. The hand pads have a little flex too.

I am disapointed in this because otherwise this is a really good computer. Perfect size and battery life. But since I am a college student will it live up to 4 years here? I dont know, but I saw the sony s460 and I felt it had a superior keboard and build quality minus the rattling battery. Sometimes strong plastics are better. And this fujitsu doesnt touch the apple or ibm notebooks.

I dont know if I am really picky or that all laptops are made this way. But i am not going to exchange it because its too much of a hassle knowing it took me a month to buy it.

The lesson is always look at the computer...
I think if I did I might have still bought this one since
it was the right size and weight and battery life and I hate widescreen in anything smaller than 15 inch!

So anyone buying one, its a good computer but its build quality isnt as good as a ibm t thinkpad or apple powerbook, IMHO, its not bad but not "wow thats really good", but those (apple, ibm) dont have as good battery and and size and weight specs.

    I post pics later

I'm sorry to hear that, I did consider the S6240 too, but ended up getting the S2110 because of the AMD Processor.

I'm actually quite satisfied with the build quality of my S2110. The keyboard feels solid and I experience no major flex and I don't see any rippling from the LCD when pushing in from the other side. The touch pad feels good to use and the touch buttons have a very satisfying "click" when pushed which makes for nice feedback.

My ONLY problem with the laptop is that I have this one STUCK pixel on my LCD which wasn't there when P1 checked it. I think it's stuck because it's not a black dot but a blue one.

Maybe you should consider buying an S2110? The two laptops are pretty similiar minus the processor, aren't they?

Rippling is not normal for that model. It might be a pain, but I'd send it back. The last thing you want are problems after the warranty expires.

well no, i dont think so, the whole screen frame just seems
really weak and cheap, there is alot of flex.

I would really hate to send the computer back now because I just started school, and I am so pressed for time that I really dont want to go to the post office and ship and wait forever to get it back. I do have a three year warranty too, So i guess I can wait till winter break.

I think its bc I hyped the computer up too much for myself. After using the 12in powerbook this doesnt feel as strong. I would have gotten the powerbook but I am in business and dont want to deal with any software issue. I heard bad things from the sony vaio S and it was $, and the ibm thinkpad was $ and too heavy.
but i did pay alot for this 18-- some dollars

i just hope it lasts me 4 years,

With 6231 no ripple, nice keyb, mouse, good build quality. I got plenty of hands on at Frys b4 buying from P1 so there were no surprises.
