I'm torn, I'm really thinking of buying the new S7010D (promise to post a review if I do!) and I have seen the 1.5GHz model at PortableOne (aka Laptops Inc) for $1599 with free Bluetooth upgrade, free carrying case. They answered my questions and seemed very professional, and could check for dead pixels.
Then Newegg is listing the S7010D with same specs (less Bluetooth) for $1499 (after instant rebate) meaning for about the same price as I could buy from PortableOne I could get a stick of 512MB RAM for a total of 768MB, which is even more critical with the shared video memory.
So I am torn as to whether the Bluetooth upgrade and free carrying case, as well as the piece of mind having the screen checked for dead pixels is worth the extra $100 that I could spend on RAM instead. I don't have a smartphone or PDA with Bluetooth right now but I could definitly see myself getting one down the road, but for $40 I could get a Bluetooth dongle as well. I think most of the time it would just go unused.
PortableOne sounds like they might be more likely go out of their way to help me out if there was a problem with the notebook whereas Newegg is more about moving product, so there is something to be said for that but they are both reputable. Makes for a hard choice.....!

I would spend the extra to get the level of service lapInc will give you. It's worth it to have someone to call with problems and I've found their sales team to be easy to work with.

I'm leaning in that direction (PortableOne). Can't decide if the $100 for 3yr warranty is worth it. I can't realistically see myself keeping the laptop over 2 yrs (upgrade by then) and American Express would extend my warranty by one year for a total of 2 yrs. But then again $100 is really cheap for an extended warranty on something of this value.

$100 is a very good deal for the 3 year. I bought it not because I'll have the notebook that long, but because it will help with resale.

Argh! I meant do you know who typically manufactures the HDD and optical drives for FUJITSU notebooks, of course!

Good point. I think the next year will be very transitional for notebooks with the Dothan chips coming out and Intel's version 2 of Centrino package so I can definitly see myself wanting to upgrade in the next year or so, so the 3 year warranty may help me out if I should decide to put on eBay.
BTW do you know who typically manufactures the hard drives and optical drives that come standard in Toshiba notebooks? -
Hitachi.
