    Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a C2230A with a hard drive upgrade to 60GB. I noticed there was a C2230C review, but there are some differences between the A and the C model. Everyone here seems to be quite keen on the S model...Can someone give me an opinion of what I should do?

-I use it mainly for MS Office, internet surfing and e-mail, some graphics editing, the occasional game, internet-phone with video transfer, and the occasional DVD and video.

-Reliability is a must--I can't afford to have this computer break down (I heard HP, Compaq, and Toshibas have a habbit of breaking down once every couple of months)

-I travel a lot, but need a machine that is comprehensive (i.e. has everything--wireless, S-Video out, parallel ports, PC Card slots--I don't want buy adaptors later on)

-I'm price sensitive--I am think I'll replace my computer once every 2-2.5 years. I don't want to be paying too much for a notebook...nothing over $2000 Canadian.

-Lots of hard drive space is a must. For some reason, I find applications just eat up every bit of space I have!

-Lots of RAM is also a must (I like to multi-task)

-A good decent processor would also make me happy.

-A good sized screen (nothing below 13") would be nice

I also have several concerns about the C2230A I've been looking at.

-How fast is the CDR? I heard it's only 10x. My current burner writes at an unbearably slow rate of 4x. 10x isn't much of an improvement, or is it?

-Where is the comp's fan? Does it overheat quickly when running intensive programs (i.e. graphics editing, watching DVD, iphone, video confrencing)?

-Is 512 RAM enough to run some graphics editing programs?

-Does the shell stain easily (my current notebook has two palm prints where my hand rests to type :p)

-How "shock resistant" is the notebook? Since I travel so much and uplug/replug the computer frequently, I'm afraid it might break easily (my current one certainly did!)

-Are there any other problems with the machine?

I saw a C2230A on sale for $1750 Canadian (before the 60GB hard drive upgrade). Is this a good price?

Since I've only carefully looked at the C2230A, I'm not quite sure if there is a S-series model that's right for me. I'm a bit clueless when it comes to buying computers too, so is it better to have more RAM or a super processor? Are there any other brands I should consider? How about Macs? Are they any good?

Thanks for your help and advice.
