I popped a key (F1) out to get at the bit of coffee I spilled on the keyboard just now, and now can't pop the key back on. I feel more foolish than you can possibly imagine. I just need on-point advice about what to do next. The stuff under the key does not look like the apparatus under every other key I have ever popped out and put back in. there is no "click" when I try to simply pop the key back on. It attaches a bit, but it wobbles around. The keyboard works fine, including the affected key, but: do I have to replace the keyboard now? Where do I get one? How tough is it to install?

Any help much appreciated. I shopped forever before getting this laptop; I still baby the h*ll out of it. Except, of course, for spilling coffee on it and possibly ruining the keyboard.

Sorry, my keyboard does not have a "T901" key..... :)

Have a close look at the bottom of the key, see if you can find any sign of a broken bit of plastic or somesuchlike. Not all keyboards are designed to have keys removed, and even those that are don't always let go easily.

I don't see anything that looks like broken plastic, but I have to admit that the bottom of this key looks different to me from the ones I have popped (to clean) in the past.

Fujitsu apparently does not provide instructions for replacing a key or a keyboard on a T901. Can someone who has some experience doing this give me some advice, either on how to replace the keyboard or on how to pop the key back in? I've replaced laptop keyboards before, but only when there were instructions. And the manual contains none. And I'm feeling a bit jinxed now. Thanks for the help.

Still waiting for some help. I bought a new keyboard and was able to remove the old one until I came to the connector between the keyboard and motherboard. I don't know how to manipulate it so that I don't break it while removing the ribbon. Any help? I'm attaching a picture of the part.

never mind; i figured it out. for anyone interested, you just gently slide the ribbon out; you don't move its housing at all.

Sounds similar to my P770. Only catch on the P770 is putting the cable back in - there is NO room to work! I had to buy a very long thin pair of needlenose pliers to get it back together.....

    Hey zaphod,
I know it's been a while since you posted this, but I've run into the exact problem you did. Could you say how you obtained the replacement keyboard, and roughly how much it cost?

I spilled just a bit of hot cocoa on my keyboard and I've been worrying sick about ruining the whole T901 -- did you experience any other side effects from the coffee spill?

    Best regards,
    -Juan
