Hi,
I have obtained a Fujitsu Lifebook P3110 with the intention of replacing the inbuilt HDD for a SSD.
The HDD is covered by a panel on the back, with only two torx screws to remove, therefore suggesting it is a user replaceable part.
Upon opening the cover, the drive is connected in a weird manner with a plastic ribbon type cable.
No screws appear to be holding the drive in place. Foam spacers are placed on the sides. There does not appear to be enough room to pull the drive back.
I've done some pics.

The hard drive in my P770 has a rubber skirt-like thing on it that looks like it might help with shocks. It is a tight fit to get the drive back in with the rubber skirt in place.
There are no screws holding the drive in, and it won't pull out of the SATA connectors unless you tip it up and pull it out on an angle. Very unnerving the first time - thought it would damage the SATA connectors, either on the drive or on the motherboard.
Several drive swaps later, all is OK. Kind of a weird way to hold a drive in place, but it seems to be working..... -
First disconnect the other end of the ribbon cable, then pull the drive out carefully from the black plastic part.
I thumbnailed the pictures also -
Thankyou for sorting out my messup with the pics KLF, apologies.
The thin end of the ribbon cable. Does this come out of the connector and go back in the connector, or does the connector unplug?
Thanks -
Connector looks like you need to lift from both edges slightly to unlock it, then the ribbon cable comes off without trouble.
Sometimes I use small screwdriver to poke those connectors, since my fingers won't fit in
Change HDD on P3110. Help needed.
