Just got a new PATA 80 Gb 5400 HDD for my new S2110, however, when i opened up the HDD compartment, i saw the HDD is connected throough a very flimsy looking cable instead of a notch fit like in most other laptops...
Anyone has had any experience with changing the HDD on the S2000 series? Should i use tweezers or some special tool to take out the cable or are by bare hands sufficient...
Just wanna make sure before I change it so that I don't regret it later if i break the cable....
    Thanks

I never handled one, but this is an adapter. I would probably try to get it off by starting at the corners, rather than all at once. But many have done it before without problems, so I don't believe it is too fragile.

    Edit: here's what you're dealing with: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=1064238&postcount=15
it is an older S series but I guess still uses the same mechanism

i've done it on my s7010d. its pretty easy and hopefully be similar to ur s2000 series. just make sure all the pins go into the correct sockets. some of my pins got bent and did not "sit in" properly. i had to straightem them out and it worked fine after.

u should be more careful if the modem cable runs thru' there...that is more flimsy and can come off the motherboard. but who uses a modem anyways??!!

I just ordered a s2110 today, how do you like it. I thought it was a great deal and I could only find positive comments about the 2110. I was choosing between the msi 1013 and 2110 and figured, the fujitsu would be more reliable over the long term.

worked fine guys..I ended up bending slightly the pins on my original 40GB HDD while pulling the cable out, though seating the new one in was a breeze....

Funny thing is the original 40GB was a Hitachi disk :p
Anyway,m i straightened the pins out and replaced the ultra noisy seagate momentus on my V2000 with it....
    :)
Bot the new Fujitsu 80 GB (in the s2110) and Hitachi 40GB in the V2000 are running fine and doing a quiet and nice job....
