I've got an Amilo M1405 which is two years old. A couple of months back it wouldn't power up and because the power lead looked a little old I replaced it. The laptop powered up however the same thing has happened again!

Any ideas what's going on ? Is there anything I could try?

    cheers

It could be something to do with the motherboard connector. Doe it look as though it is is good condition, and is firmly held in the notebook. Also, check all the battery contacts and make sure they are making a good connection with those on the notebook itself.

    Thanks for replying, much appreciated.
I have noticed that although no lights come on when I put the lead in there is a buzz coming from inside!
How do I check the motherboard connectors?

    cheers

    Sorry about the late reply.

Normally, no lights means that it is a power issue. It could still be the motherboard, but it will be wise to check the power connector first. Check visually that it is not damaged, and that it can make a good contact with the AC adapter connector. Also, check the battery contacts, and make ure they are clean and are making good contact with those of the notebook.
