After spending 30 minutes talking to several people at Fujitsu, I finally got the contrast and nits for the E8210.
Contrast ratio is 600-1
Nits- 370
Looks like it should have a better display than the N3410 model.

Are they willing to put that -- or show you that -- in writing?
I get skeptical when (1) the info is strangely missing from the tech specs, despite the fact that it normally appears on Fujitsu tech data sheets;
(2) nobody at Fujitsu seems to know the info for sure, at least not until you spoke to several people; and (3) whoever spoke to you on the phone is claiming that the E8210 has much better display specs than the other dual core 15.4", the N3530 (which has 300 nits and a contrast ratio of 500:1) -- and yet you noticed yourself that the N3530 is stated to be "Color-Enhanced Crystal View" while this is listed just as "Crystal View".
Maybe it's my suspicious legal mind... in any case, if anyone can find it in writing I'd be grateful for a link.
Thanks. -
I now envy the fujitsu screens a lot. They leave my thinkpad t60 screen in shame.

Has anyone actually seen one in person yet?

Even the screens of the new C series Fujitsu notebooks were brighter and had a better contrast than the ASUS A8J, W6V and M5 when I went to check out laptops last week. Although there weren't any E-series models on display, and given the 3+ years I had my E7010, I'd say the E8210 screen would be even better than in the budget C-series Lifebooks.

Has anybody compared new core duo Fujitsu notebooks screens with Toshiba M70 displays? Which one has better display?
I have heard that Toshiba Qosmio G20 has excellent display with 2 lamps . Anyone could compare this with Fujitsu ? -
Just saw the E8210 yesterday. It's got a gorgeous screen, much brighter with more vivid colours than most of the other laptops on display. The Qosimo screen looked ok to me, didn't seem all that different from other Toshiba screens, a bit brighter though. The only thing holding me back from the E8210 was the fact the high res (WSXGA+) wasn't and may not be at all available in Singapore.
While both the screens are glossy, the Fujitsu screen is a lot less reflective than that of any other glossy screen on display. It was the only display which was entirely and clearly visible even under the harsh fluorescent lighting of the shops. It also had a pretty good viewing angle. -
so Fujitsu E8210 has pretty good viewing angle?
Well I wonder if AMILO Pi 1536 with core duoe 1,66 also has such a pretty good viewing angle and brightness/contrast?
But E8210 has realtek alc262 (2 channel hd audio) and and Express card (so SB audigy 2 zs cant be used (pcmcia)- and I am interested rather in 6-8 channel sound -
If the brightness/contrast are actually higher than the N3530 (which my son now has) and if the screen is of the same manufacture then it will indeed be excellent. I find myself looking at the XBrite on my SZ120 at times and wishing it were even close to the same quality as that screen. I think having had that Fujitsu for the couple of months that I did almost spoiled me for just about every other notebook manufacturer......

I could determine vertical viewing angle as the LCDs were fixed in the open position in the shop, but the horizontal angle was pretty good. Couldn't compare to N-series as no shop carried it.
I agree that the quality of Fujitsu screens has spoilt me so badly that now I have trouble considering other mediocre screens. -
concerning FSC AMilo Pi 1536 I have found this review :
http://www.chip.de/artikel/c1_artikel_19588707.html and it says that LCD is maybe not as bright - 151 cd/m2 but contrast ratio is 817:1 !! and 30ms response - no problem as I am more movie fanatic than gamer
I presume that brightness may vary as some models might have installed LCD coming from another shippments or something
another review http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2903 but no detailed data on brightness besides opinions that is is very bright -
That's way too high. They either got wrong specs (mistaken the screen specs of the N-series) or overestimating it.
I also asked for my P7010's contrast ratio in tech support and they also mentioned it having 600:1 and 300 nits when I read a while ago from their webpage that it's only 250:1 and 100 nits. -
I guess/think that in this price range (about 1500USD) FSC models offer comparable lcd screens quality, better than the ACER or Asus. But the greatest Lcds have the top models of Sony, IBM (e.i. T60) or Toshiba Qosmio, or LG etc.. and they cost more than 2000 USD, even 3000 USD. On another hand SOny maybe provide very good quality screens with cheaper models, but they are equipped with integrated graphic card etc, and there are some warranty issues (some countries not covered)

and unfortunatelly another review:
http://www.notebookjournal.de/tests/102/5
it says Amilo Pi 1536 has only about 100 cd/m2 (nits) brightness
and Lcd screen specs according to manufacturer: quanta dislplay inc (which may be a marketing move .: (160 nits)
http://www.qdi.com.tw/main_07Cons.asp?Id=22
it seems amilo 1439G had much better display (190 nits in real) (220 by producer)
pity..
