Just thought I'd post in the Fujitsu community, because I know how hard it can be to find sleeves for 13.3 inch notebooks.
If you are looking, I recommend you check out sfbags.com. They have a high quality, customizable sleeve that fits the s-series like a glove. In fact, they can size to pretty much any notebook out there. You can go from a simple sleeve to one with a pouch and shoulder strap, depending on what you wish to pay. And the support is excellent - I recieved a follow up email after ordering to make sure everything had arrived. The sleeves are even made in the USA (CA factory), something that is quite rare these days.

We're actually going to be posting a few reviews of their bags/sleeves in the next few weeks.

Crescentmage, I see you have the Fujitsu S2110. How is the machine? Are you happy with your decision and could you please tell me anything I should know when looking into purchasing that model (or other models if you have more extensive knowledge of Fujitsu in general).
Where did you end up getting it from? The Fujitsu website, PortableOne.com or a retailer? If you don't mind me asking how much you paid for it and the specs? Perhaps you have already posted all of this somewhere else and you can direct me there. -
the waterfield bags look nice. i'm also wondering if the booqbags work for the s2110. what notebook sleeve do you use for your s2000 or s6000 notebooks?
-
(Keeping in mind 13.3" sleeves for conventional non-widescreen notebooks)
-
yes...thank you for clarifying momo...sony does have 13.3" sleeves, however, they're tailored to the widescreen vaios.

I'm pretty happy with it. I really like the size/form factor of it - the 13.3 screen/4 lbs is a sweet spot for thin & lights in my opinion. That being said, I will admit that the AMD processor, while still quite good, is slower than a pentium M. Still plenty fast for my needs, but if you are a speed demon, the s6240 is probably the way to go. I get very good battery life however (over 4 hours on half brightness, which is still quite bright), more than I think you would expect from the Intel Sonoma platform. The ATI integrated graphics also perform surprisingly well, though they still can't beat a good dedicated card. And the wireless works wonders.
Right off the top of my head:
Pros:
Beautiful screen
Good battery life
Good graphics card (for integrated)
Better than average build/keyboard (though still not up to IBM/Lenovo standards)
Great form factor
Price is hard to beat in the < 4 lbs category
Excellent wireless reception
Cons:
Not as fast as Pentium M
DVD burner is a little loud when first spinning up
Fan runs more than I'd like (though it is quiet and the notebook stays pretty cool)
If you've got money to burn and want the absolute fastest computer, go with the s6240 or another brand, but if price is important, the s2110 is a great all around notebook.
And I purchased from portableone.com - great place, no tax or shipping (got my notebook for under 1500 with DVD burner and extended warranty), good service, no dead pixels. You can always upgrade the hard drive and RAM yourself later, though save the hard drive for warranty work. Though I have noticed that Fujitsu is now advertising the s2110 with a Turion MT-30, which doubles the L2 cache over the MT-28 that I got (grumble). The speed increase is probably noticeable, so if they really are offering it with a faster processor now, it is probably worth checking with P1 and seeing how long it will be until they have it. But P1 is definitely the way to go.
Hope that helped. -
CresentMage:
Nice review. P1 happens to have the S2110 listed with the MT-30 currently.

CresentMage, thanks for the info! You say that the AMD processor is better for battery than the Pentium M, how much better exactly (or roughly), in minutes? Does the fan come on often on this machine to cool it down? How 'loud' is the 'loudness' experienced by this fan and /or the notebook in general on regular daily use/apps?
I assume you are in the U.S. PortableOne doesn't charge tax? Or the state you live in doesn't? If i'm not mistaken, once I ship the machine here to Canada (if I buy via credit card lets say) the Canadian tax (blah!) will be added to my purchase price ;x).
Free shipping sounds good and under $1500 USD is great. I'll try and see how you got it configured as such.
Why did you go with PortableOne over Fujitsu Direct? (Free extended warranty was the difference? Because prices are exact on both websites, down to the dollar). -
(I don't see how you can configure under $1500 with extended 3-year warranty? - Considoring the other specs - HD and DVD burner - you payed to upgrade - P1 is offering the 3-year on the 6000 series though).
-
There is no tax for items coming into Canada, but you have to pay a "duty" of some sort which adds up to about 15% tax
-
Yup, that is the tax. 15%. Way too much if you ask me. On everything I [we] buy here in Canada.
-
How did you configure it to under $1500USD though? With extended warranty ($100), it comes out to like $1569.

i have a s6220. I bought a incase sleeve for 13' macbook. It is quite good. The fit is not snug but not loose.

Wow. back from the dead...
Excellent sleeve for Fujitsu Notebooks
