When i bought a FSC Amilo Xi 1546 five months ago i was happy with its gaming capabilities and its ability to keep itself cool and quiet, but now its getting hotter and hotter every day.

When its not in use it keeps at a steady 65-70ºC and when i play Crysis, Hellgate London and Gears of War it goes to 70-80ºC!
I cant even play on it anymore without taking a 1 hour break every 20 minutes for it to cool down!

So i searched the forum and found similar threads about cleaning the fans and putting new thermal paste.
Is this a relative safe thing to do, or should i just give up on this notebook?

[Sendt it for repairs, but they said there was nothing wrong. ]

PS: If someone could make a quick walktrough with pictures or something, it would really help me out.

Thanks for the informative reply. :)
Hopefully this will keep my notebook cooler that it is now, because that fan is getting really annoying.

60 to 70!!!!! oooh mamma, thats hot. i agree with ronkotus, open it up and clean it out. i was shocked the first time i opened it to find a huge clump of dust lodged in the fan! i also replaced the thermal paste and got a notebook cooler. now i see temps of around 45degrees on idle and say...60degrees when on BF2.

    good luck
