I'm almost ready to purchase my new Fujitsu since the N3510 is apparently just coming out.

1)I noticed that the Hard Drive choices go up to 100 GB but are all 4200 rpm drives except for the 60 GB which is a 5400 rpm drive.
Considering that I will use it for Word and Excel work reports, Internet surfing and research, some simple desktop publishing, and photo editing and photo storage (possibly video), am I going to benefit more from the larger hard drive, though it is somewhat slower at 4200 rpm or should I go with the 60 gb 5400 rpm drive. The only gaming I would do is card games such as solitaire, etc (if I ever get the time!).

2)Is there any disadvantage to ordering direct from Fujitsu? Right now Portable One doesn't have all the customizable choices that Fujitsu does with memory, hard drives, software, etc. Have there been any horror stories with ordering direct?

    Thanks in advance!

Call p1 and talk to them. I can't imagine that fujitsu can give you an option that p1 can't. True they may not have some things listed, but I bet they can do them. I recall their website saying that you should call them if the configuration/option you were interested in is not listed. P1 has better customer care than fujitsu direct.

Thanks to the above posters......I did call P1 and they are quite willing to configure whatever I want. I was very impressed!

So, my final question.....I hope (LOL) is......the hard drive question. They can upgrade to the 7K60 Hitachi hard drive. And, if any hard drive related servicing would then need to be done, P1 would do it which would hopefully not negate the extended Fujitsu warranty (which I plan to buy). Considering my needs to use it for work reports, internet research, etc as well as photo editing AND storage, wouldn't an upgrade to a faster hard drive be recommended?

Thanks to all for your help, and to Brian for your news about this model!

    Hey kkab,

i'd recommend going with the hitachi 7k60. i had it in my fujitsu N5010 and N6010. just wasn't the same whenever i'd have to use my dell 600m with the 30gb 4200 HD.

This might sound silly, but one thing i like the fast rpm's for is viewing thumbnails in folders. With the 7K60, those thumbnails (in folders with hundreds and hundreds of pictures) display so much quicker. I would personally sacrifice performance over size/capacity.

    Hope this helps.

And yeah, P1's great. i personally can't say enough good things about the company. They run an A+ shop over there.

Yeah, the 7k60 really gives you the best of both worlds. If you need more storage you can get a USB drive.

It probably can, though I would prefer 128MB dedicated. I'm sure you'll have to scale down several settings to get it to run fluidly.

That's a new standard to replace cardbus. It's faster and if i am not mistaken has 2 physical sizes ... I cannot seem to remember where I read about it [)]. But the good thing is that you get one express card and one cardbus ... the best of the 2 worlds!

Another cool fact I have seen Ivan post is this: All upgrades done by P1 are covered by the warranty!

How cool is that?! I just love that place.

How much does P1 charge to upgrade a Fujitsu Laptop?

I was told many things in the Fujitsu I have are integrated. Such as the Processor and Wireless NIC.

I would assume by upgrade you mean Hard Dive, and RAM.
