Hello Guys I'm back again ;)

I've changed OS to WinXP (personally I hate Vista but I had to change because of some SIEMENS soft which will not work with Vista anyway...)

And Now...I have some strange problem with Sounds...since...I don't know...probably I've installed some software...
My english is really poor but I will try to explain how it looks: the right word will be probably " hiccup" or burp ?
When I try to play any MP3 file I have such strange behaviour....
sound have hiccup...and sometimes it looks like notebook is "frozen" for few secund (I can't even move a mouse) and sound is "hanging" in one tone... Sounds like:
"With or withhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhout You....." If you know what I mean...

One time I had to make hard restart...was hanging for more than 20 secounds and was loud really ;)
It really makes me nervous - what is strange: seems that it is only sound problem. I mean when I try to look some video clip (You Tube for example) than video looks ok...

Hint: few weeks age I installed aditionaly 1 GM of RAM - maybe it is a RAM problem ? Anyway system looks like not overloaded (memory or CPU)

    HELP HELP HELP ! ( ... - - - ... )

    hi kargan,

i've had the same kind of problem with my notebook (sound was lagging). This can be fixed by installing a "patch" found on the Fujitsu-Siemens' website (check this thread, or go to the download drivers on the site ). There's also a thread (or was it on this thread? i can't really remember) where the lagging sound issue was discussed and am alternate solution was proposed. (something found in your hard-disk driver's properties, i don't remember exactly)
in my case, this wasn't the only problem. while i had winXP, my notebook used to freeze pretty often (3 times /day) mouse / keyboard blocked, no activity, only the current playing sound repeating for ever ( more like the current sound sample, a very disturbing effect ).

keep in mind: if your sound is lagging but the computer doesn't freeze you have the first case, which can be solved easily. (let me know if you really get stuck )
if your notebook also freezes completely then you should go back to win vista, you have my situation. At least that's what helped my problem go away. it never froze on vista.

    good luck
    cheers!

I had this freeze few times...2 maybe 3 times mostly during a game playing :D
But don't scare me please that I have to use VISTA !!! I need WinXP because of some SIEMENS software which is working only at XP system :(

I will try to find some fix at fujitsu site...

    Thx for hints :)

I've had a very bad experience with Fujistsu Siemens. I have an Amilo pi505, the dvd player wasn't working so they took it in for repairs, it came back with no change, the guarantee still had a few weeks left so I sent it off again and this time they kept the laptop and refused to give it back unless I paid for the repairs. After several weeks of "discussion" they suggested I just pay the money and then ask for a refund after.
I paid the money €113 and got the computer back, unrepaired, problem worse than ever and they refuse to give me a refund. Now the guarantee is finished so they are saying they don't have to repair it because it's no longer under warranty.

I wrote a letter to customer care a month ago which has been ignored.

I am now with a computer that is not fully functioning and feeling extremely stressed out and powerless.

I cannot recommend this company to anyone, I hope you will not have any problems with your laptop.

I had a bad experience with Fujitsu. I don't know if xi 1554 is good or not but I still prefer Dell XPS products.

Great thread! Loving the xi1554 and the big screen which is so awesome for my work.

I've reinstalled Vista a couple of times to get the Mobility Modder Catalyst drivers to work (Succeeded!), and afterwards couple of problems have rised. Three questions:

    1. The DVD-drive works erratically. Sometimes it doesn't read DVDs (especially ones I've burned myself) and you have to insert it multiple times. Sometimes it reads them but I'm not able to copy/move stuff out of the disc to my HDD.

Burning doesn't work that well either. I can usually burn stuff by just copying it from my HDD to the DVD, but I haven't been able to make any NERO/nlite/CloneCD type programs to work. They all give different kinds of error messages and won't burn the DVD/CD. This is probably a software/firmware issue, right? What to do?

    2. I can't get Realtek to work after the Vista reinstallations. If I install it, there's usually just no sound at all, no matter what I tweak. I've tried many different versions. Eventually I just cleared all the drivers and let Vista install some generic ones. They work but are not as good, for example I can't change my speakers to headphones "on the run". All sound will stop and I'll have to close and open all the applications for the sound to reappear. Annoying.

    3. I'm eventually installing XP on this for gaming and other stuff, I've read the great guide on the forums and can't wait to try it. But obviously I have to get the burner working first.

Anyway, when I do install XP, I really want to optimize everything to get the best possible gaming performance out of my laptop. I'm sort of a newbie with computer gaming, what are some of the things some of you 1554 owners out there have done to really maximize performance? In what sequence do you update the drivers/chipsets/Raid. Is there a 1554 or Xi-specific guide for this?
