Hey, guys I have a little problem here. My Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727's screen is broken, but I dont know which part of it. I am trying to sell my laptop and one guy wants to buy it but he is actually buying it for the flat cable and he wants to know if its working. So my question here is how can I know if it is broken or not? And also is flat cable transmitting the power for backlight or its only connecting motherboard with the screen. Please tell me what is flat cable's full purpose so i can know. PLEASE RESPOND IT'S URGENT.

If it has LED LCD display, then the lcd cable carries both image and power to the lcd.

If your laptops has CCFL LCD display, then the display lcd cable carries only image. Lcd is separately powered by an inverter, but on some displays these are still one cable... Some cables even have usb for webcam in them.

So... the question is: how is your display broken? Physically cracked or something else?

OK, but who can I know if it my laptop has CCFL LCD display or LED LCD display?
It was physically broken, my joystick fell on the screen one day and the screen turned black, but it was visible with a lamp. And then later I was opening the laptop and when i closed it back and tried to turn him on, it turned on properly, but the screen was all black and broken totally. So, laptop is working all correctly but the screen is broken. And how can I know if it my laptop has CCFL LCD display or LED LCD display?

There is several ways. Googling the product model and looking at the manufacturers or resellers info pages is easiest, however there used to be some models that came with either CCFL or LED backlighting. Maybe take a screwdriver and dismantle the display, to see the model number for LCD panel itself (you'll also see if there's an inverter or not). I do that often, it isn't so difficult.

For the display itself: if there is no cracks on screen, it's hard to say why it is black. Something hitting on panel should not do so, unless it made the LCD cable go loose or something happened to the inverter. In a rare case backlight itself took a hit and broke.
