I own a Fujitsu C2220 which I purchased about 3.5 years ago. It is an Intel Pentium 4-M Processor 2.5ghz, and with 512mb ram. It has worked well for me but it has had a problem with its Fan for over a year now. The fan is extremely loud and once every few months, I will recieve a "thermal error" in which it says my computer is running too hot and must shut down. I got the fan replaced last summer, but it has done no good and the guy who works there said that this particular Fujitsu model has an awkward design where the fan continuously rubs the bottom of the plate. Other than that, this computer has ran flawless. It is a bit slow, but I can somehow get this fan to stop giving me problems with thermal errors, I will upgrade the ram, and keep it, otherwise I can't bother with it anymore.
Please help me. I am stressing out, because the guy said it is only a matter of time before the hard drive is ruined because of the thermal errors, but the only real issue with this computer is the fan. I have traveled with it across seas and every so often domestically, and it still works well.
I really like this computer, and would like to continue using it without this problem.

anyone other than me have this problem?
what did you have to do to fix it? -
have flashed your bios by any chance. when i flashed the bios on my amilo l 1310g the fan became louder. if did this try removing setting your bios to default, save exit. remove power supply and battery and hold power button for 10-15 seconds it helps reset bios. this is for fujistsu laptops.

What about using a cooling pad?

I thought about using a cooling pad but that shouldn't have to be the solution.
The fan inside should not be loud, and it should have the capability to be fixed
Please eplain more about flashing the bios? I don't know how to make my bios t default? Honestly, what is a Bios? Please let me know, and I appreciate the help so far.
Honestly, this computer has been very dependable and without any issue, except this fan. I want to fix this fan, and if I can get that to work, I will upgrade my ram and keep this computer running for as long as it has to go. -
reboot your laptop should see your boot up screen. this screen will display special keys like F2,F12 et. Press the F2 key this enable the bios just read instuctions for default configuration. on my laptop the when in the bios F9 is for default settings and F10 for saving and exit. this may different on yours. but reboot and press F2 at boot screen.

one more thing found little more. after you have set your bios to default and save settings. the laptop should boot up normaly. after booting turn off, unplug, remove battery hold power button for 10 seconds. now put your power plug back but dont put the battery back. now start up laptop. hope this works for you friend. the laptop cooler is not a bad idea also.

thank you for the infor^
I did try it but unfortunately the same problem persists.
Are there any Fujitsu experts here that have dealt with the same issue?
I just want my fan to operate normally. It bothers me because I really like this computer. I have used it for everything. I am a DJ so I do a lot of music editing. Most people said macs are the best and they are good, but I did it all with this Fujitsu and it has got me some great gigs. I have sentimental value with this laptop, and since everything else works great on it, I really would like to repair it rather than scrap it, or sell it on ebay for a minimal return.
Who else had a fan issue, and is it possible to fix it without the problem reocurring? -
looks like the Fujitsu section isn't getting too many answers.
do you all know of any Fujitsu specific forums? -
That's because most of us didn't buy your model and happen to have the same problem. Most folks bought the smaller S or P series, or the really large N series. You can search the threads for references to T3 computers. They service fujitsu computers and they are VERY good. They might be able to tell you more than the tech that you talked to.

If you email [email protected], it'll get forwarded to Eric, who's really cool. (I don't want to post his email so it doesn't get picked up by spambots that don't have it already.)

Did they fix your fan problems and do you use the same computer now without issue? -
In my case, the rubber foot came off the bottom of the laptop and they got me a new part that I could swap myself. They also helped me figure out the cord on my powersupply had gone bad.

I'm having the same problem with my N5010 and I have lost two hard disks in the process. I'm looking for the cooling fan right now.
If there is any one out there that want to sell a used N5010. Please contact me at saderogba at gmail dot com. It doesn't need to be working, what I want to do is use the parts (cooling fan, keyboard) to fix the one I have.
For any one out there, don't waste your time buying cooling pad, the heat is too much for cooling pad to handle. -
Jay, don't listen them - those guys don't know what is going on - they only guessing.
I've got C2220 Lifebook 2.4GHz and I've got very similar problem (without thermal error). All sympthoms are going to your FAN - you have laptop 3,5 year and I suspect you never open it for cleaning. Main problem of construction of that notebook model is cooling air tunnel located on the bottom - when FAN is turned on it's working as vacuum machine - sucking everything what is under laptop. Result - dust is settling in the axis of the FAN - it's spinning slower and noisy (that your first symptome). Second symptome is dust what passed thru the FAN but settled on the CPU radiator - thermal error. The dust is blocking flowing of cooling air on thru the radiator = overheating CPU. When CPU is hot system trying make him lighten and trying work slower. Now you know what is going now.
Solution of the problem:
3,5 year = your notebook warranty is over then you can fix it by yourself. You have to take off a bottom cover of laptop (dont forget unscrew bolts from DVD drive).
FAN - here you have two ways to eliminate loud problem - exchange for newone (but is very hard to get this same model of fan) or regenerate it. Unscrew the fan, clean it and before mounting back you can put on the fan axis few drops of olive oil (i.e. WD-40). To do it best is use a syringe with needle.
RADIATOR - is hided under smal aluminium cover - unscrew it and clean it - best way is using a flexible pipe connected to turned on vacuum machine kept close on the radiator and cleaning by old toothbrush.
After that operations your notebook will be working with the speed and silence as brand new
You can give congratulations to magick of his knowledge -

I'm thinking of upgrading the 2.2GHz CPU and/or going to fujitsu care centre to replace/repair the fan...
Anyone tried upgrading the CPU of any Fujitsu Lappy b4?
