Checking out a friend's two E8020 laptops which he just received. On both machines, the right side of the keyboard has a noticable flexing (that portion of the keyboard moves up and down) and makes a clicking sound.

Any other owners see this problem and if so have you called Fujitsu to have it fixed? This is kind of disappointing.

    Thanks,
    Harvey

I have the E8020D model without the Quick Point device and the keyboard is solid.

Thanks. Time to have Fujitsu make an onsite service call.

I had an E8020D with a track point. I too felt that the keyboards do have flex.. in fact I've yet to find a Fujitsu keyboard that I like. imho, it's Fujitsu's one key flaw. Perhaps I am too spoiled by IBM.

An update. Just spoke to my friend about the keyboard issue on his 2 E8020's.

    1. Fujitsu onsite service came out to his home yesterday with 2 new keyboards - very good response time.

    2. The repair on one of the machines did not alleviate the problem (he was at work when they came). He will be calling them back to indicate that the repair was not satisfactory.

    3. The repair on the second machine was a lot better but not perfect - some flexing still remains. We both have Thinkpad R40's and I asked him to rate the second machine on a 1 to 10 scale with the R40 being a 9 or 10. He rated the second machine at a 7 or 8.

All in all, Fujitsu service response was excellent. Unfortunately, there appears to be an issue with the quality of the keyboards.

We'll see if things improve with the second service call.

I may come under flak for this.. but to be quite honest.. keyboards is not where Fujitsu excels at.. I've owned an E series, and played around with the S, N and one of the tablets.. none of them compared to my Thinkpad. the S6xxx had the same amount of fex as the E8020. I found the N to be better, but it still is not comparable to the quality of IBM's keyboard.
