I'm going to sell my 7.5 lb Acer 1662wlmi and get a Fujitsu LifeBook S6231 NoteBook-
I downloaded the manual and find no reference to the hard drive location. I have a few images here, is this where the hard drive is?
I plan on installing a 60 gb/7200 rpm hard drive-

Yes, it's where you think it is.
-
Just be careful if you ever need to send your laptop in to Fujitsu for repair. Fujitsu does not consider the hard drive as "user accessible" so replacing the hard drive on your own can void your warranty.
Thus make sure you put the original hard drive back in if you ever have to send your laptop in for repair. -
Now, how is the HDD any less user accesible than the RAM? Two screws, open lid... switch part. They can't be serious, can they?
-
I don't know if they enforce it, but yes, they are serious. Just swap the old drive back in if you need to, though I never send my HDD in with a machine for repair.
-
Noah, I agree it's ridiculous. I don't know how hard they enforce it but I just wouldn't risk it. The people I've talked to at Fujitsu support seemed very adamant about it.
-
Which 60gb 7200rpm hard disk would you recommend?
Edited to add:
What I mean to ask is, which 7200rpm harddrive will not significantly increase heat and reduce battery life? -
I've personally used the Hitachi 7200 rpm drive and have only noticed a minimal heat increase, but battery life has been pretty much unchanged.
-
Nothing other than the Hitachi are shipping from what I can tell. They've been in the game much longer than everyone else, the other options are jsut starting to come online.
