Granted the hard disk drive is a little slow, but man is that an attractive price or what? Never expected a 17" Fujitsu to sell so cheap.
-
yeah the screen alone is worth it.. i plan on getting it. How is the HD 2600 compared the Go 7900 GS i wonder
-
It looks like a really nice laptop - The video card seems comparable to an 8600 GT. I've been looking at this one as well....
Just be aware there's no bluetooth, mic, or webcam. -
dont need any of those
-
I believe that the n6460 comes with only one hard disk carriage, if you order it with one hard disk. I have not seen how to get the extra carriage on Fujitsu's web site, if you prefer to buy your own second hard disk, versus Fujitsu's terribly over priced ones. You may be out of luck. Dell's Inspiron 17" does not require a carriage for the second disk. Also, Fujitsu does not have instructions onhow to add the second disk-I believe you have to remove multiple panels. Dell provides a full online manual. with photos. On the other hand, Dell plays a lot of games with it's coupons, reminds me of car dealers. With Dell, you can end up paying hundreds more than someone else for the same laptop. Fujitsu seems more up front.
That could add to the cost. From what I understand most prefer Nvidia to Ati. -
I'm surprised at the pricing of the n6460 too, especially considering that Fujitsu isn't exactly known for being cheap.
On top of the base price, Fujitsu Canada is giving a 3% academic discount plus a $75 dollar rebate, which equals a before tax price of ~$1476!
As for the graphics capabilities, my GUESS is that it would compare to an 8600GS, not the 8600GT (that's probably what the 2600XT is for), but still not bad.
The n6460 blows away my old n6010 in every way - for $500 less. It's hard to justify buying a new notebook when your old one is still going strong... one of the downsides of buying a reliable and long-lived computer. -
hmm one of the reasons i wanted to buy it was for the option to install a second hdd and yea their hdd's are expensive. I was going to go with 1 then buy another for cheaper elsewhere..
-
i wonder if the video card could ever be upgraded
-
Alright I called fujitsu up and was told they do sell the bracket for the 2nd harddrive (costs $2) and all you have to do is call them up and tech support would have it shipped out to you.
-
I ordered the n6460 on newegg
-
Fujitsu should make it clear that the bracket needs to be bought, before you buy the laptop. One can be on a tight schedule, order the laptop and an extra hard drive, then receive it and discover that the bracket is missing. More lost time. I thought web sites were supposed to eliminate unnecessary phone calls. Fujitsu's website does not even have a service manual mentioning how to install the hard drive or that it needs a bracket, nor a way to purchase the bracket.

Can anyone who has the n6460 tell me what the actual battery life is like? Obviously the main cons of this laptop are battery life, the 4200rpm hard drive and the weight. I'm also tossing up between this and the HP DV9500t...
-
The actual battery life is ugly. I'm running a 5400rpm 100GB drive in mine and my battery life in power saver mode is a whopping 70 minutes or so. In full fledged high perf mode the battery lasted about 30-35 minutes (internet surfing).
-
It is very simple to add a harddrive; just call tech support. Don't forget to ask for the little screws, BestBuy and so on don't carry them.
The brackets are also handed primary and secondary.
The battery life is abysmal however I bought a 5200mAH extra batt for about 100$ online. It almost makes the laptop last 1:45. The charger is much smaller and lighter than the N6410. Remember that gorgeous screen is a big drain.
Even with Vista, it is much quicker to respond than the N6410.
The volume button is very welcome however the video optimizer is a joke; it just pumps the colors and makes every thing orange-ish color. I leave it off always.
It is built much better than my old N6410 though it appears identical. It has no rattles or flexing noises and feels very tight and well built. -
not true it has two hardrive slots only one occupied with the 200gb hdd. it is pretty good i have one the screen is awesome i play co4 on mid to hig settings it s awesome once u have the optimised drivers for it. this thing is a beast its huge the only bad thing is the battery life. hhahah and i got mine for 700 brand new yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

700? off ebay?
-
