I was wondering if anyone here who purchased a custom-configured notebook from Fujitsu's website was alarmed at all by this statement: "Custom configured and refurbished products may not be
    returned for credit or refund."

I emailed Fujitsu and they basically told me that although their official policy is that they accept no returns on custom-configured units, they are willing to bend the rules if you receive a defective unit. Doesn't this seem a little sketchy to anyone? Basically they have to break their return policy in order to allow a customer to return a defective unit.

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with returning a defective notebook to Fujitsu. I really have my eye on a custom-configured S7010, but this return policy is scaring me.

they've done a return before, more than once and with the same customer who recieved a streak of defective screens (turned out at the end it was a problem with the whole batch)

But if you want to get a fujitsu I advise you to do so from www.portableone.com (that's where most of us around here get our fujitsu's)... they might have some offers now. and their customer service surpasses anything you've ever delt with before. + they are ready to open the unit and verify it's in good shape before they send it to you just so that you can be sure you wont have to do any returns! They are an authorized dealer, so you can rest assured they know what they are doing.

    Thanks for the reply, qwester.

So you're saying this person returned a defective custom-configured notebook he bought on Fujitsu's website?

I'm a little hesitant to buy from Portable One because (1) they are more expensive, and (2) they don't allow as much customization as Fujitsu's website.

What? P1 has always been cheaper and offered more config options. What are you seeing specifically as this would be a first.

Plus you don't have to pay tax unless you are in CA.
