I'm really trying to find a sub 5 lbs notebook that will be able to support Vista when it's released. I like the fujitsu, it's the only 64 bit machine with a graphics processor that can run Aero glass and all that. But I'm worried if the Radeon 200m will be powerful enough to run aero and have it look nice. It also sucks that it doesn't appear to support DDR2 memory? Anybody else have any thoughts opinions about this machine and whether it'll be able to handle the Vista OS? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

You are probably going to have to choose between card and size. If you want a larger notebook with 64 bit and good card, the Acer Ferrari would be a nice fit.

As for Vista, it's my understanding that there will be a 32-bit version, so almost any current machine will support it, though I suspect most will need a healthy RAM upgrade.

I believe the S2110 can handle up to 2gb of memory. Even just supporting DDR1, I would think 2gb is overkill to get vista running smoothly.

What does running vista in 32 bit mode lose out on? Anybody know?

And while I'm at it, since I'm getting off topic here, do I lose out much with the Fujitsu's DDR memory instead of DDR2? Can it be upgraded?

AMD still don't support DDR2. And DDR and DDR2 are not compatible with each others, so you cannot upgrade. As to missing out on anything, no DDR2 offers a very minimal boost in bandwidth when it comes to regular usage.

Vista will just be slower on 32-bit machines, I don't know if other features are missing, Vista isn't exactly complete yet.

Appreciate the help guys. I guess I'll forget the 64 bit processor and concentrate on finding a machine with a decent GPU to run Aero. Thanks!
