I'm thinking of getting the S7010D but I had a few questions first.

    1) I'm probably going to format the drive either way and it would be cheaper just to get XP Home and then reformat and install with XP Pro that I already have. So my question is does it include the actual WinXP CD? Also what about drivers... will it come with a cd full of drivers so I dont have to go and download them? I'm either going to buy from Fujitsu direct or PortableOne, but does anybody know about either one?

    2) Anyone actually use the bluetooth on the notebook? I have a motorola v600 which I would like to connect with.

    3) Is there a difference between the Fujitsu 80GB 5400rpm drive and the 80AH 80GB 5400rpm drive? Same price though. (this is from PortableOne website)

    4) Will the price for this model drop when the new S models are released?

I think that's it for now..

    4) should drop once the sonoma comes in.

More about #4 because it's making me sad... how significant is the price drop usually when things are upgraded?

No, the S7010D does not come with XP CD, only recovery disks. I think Sutheep's 7011 is out of Fujitsu (Singapore) and they have a different package all together.

I have the S7010D w/native bt (toshiba v1.2). I sync phone (t610), ppc over AS (h4155), and use a bt mouse. No complaints, works every time.

No knowledge on different hard drives -- I replaced stock 40Gb with 100Gb Seagate Momentus. Installing xp pro recovery cd was not a problem.

Price varies mostly on which CPU you want, higher performance = higher price. $1400 to $2000 (low-high end cpu / optical drive).

    Cheers

so do the recovery disks have the actual drivers which I can install upon foramtting and reinstalling WinXP Pro? Will I be receiving the same disks whether I order from Fujitsu directly or from PortableOne?

The last Acer laptop I had only let me "install" the default configuration of the computer from the recovery disks and didn't seem to let me choose just to install drivers. I don't want to format the drive and find out that I don't have all the correct drivers for the laptop to function.

The price won't drop more than a few dollars because they don't have a large inventory float. When the new P7 came out, it simply replced the prior model which was never heard from again.

what you receive is the same from fujitsu and p1.
you get a dvd that contains an IMAGE of your drive to install XP again (just like with any other manufacturer)
and you get a driver + applications recovery cd that you can use to install the drivers or any of the original applications again. this cd will work even if you don't use the provided XP dvd image.
