I just recently bought a fujitsu s7010d. Everything works great except for the video playback. No matter what kind of players i use (realmedia, window, vlc) everything comes out real dark. I try setting the contrast and the colors for the graphic card but it didnt help. Except for playing videos the contrast and color is fine for other applications. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

    thanks everyone!!

So if you watch a movie in WinDVD or Media Player it looks dark? Are you able to play it on another notebook to see the difference? I'm also assuming you have brightness all the way up.

yea...its not really the contrast i dont think. because i tried it with the contrast all the way up and then the image becomes real white and blurish. I didn't have this problem when i tried to play the files or dvd on my other notebook or my desktop. Is the problem with the video card? Because the display looks fine when i am running other applications. I just have problems with videos..

    thanks!

You might not have the exact codec installed for the video clip, with windows choosing a near match that doesn't quite decode the same. Just a guess.

Edit: get the GSpot codec appliance. It can tell you what codec was used on the video clip and if you have the codec installed on your machine. http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

You might also try going to Intel site and getting latest video driver. I recall seeing posts about fujitsu's driver being behind for the S6 series, I think. Maybe it's a problem for the S7 too?

It doesn't make sense that this would be a hardware issue, but I guess it's possible. With DixV I'd make no promises, but a DVD should look good. Try the driver update and let us know what happens.

OK!! with the new driver i seem to be able to better set the contrast and color for video viewing. The problem seem to be corrected.. So i guess it was a driver problem.

    thanks for the advice!!!!
