hi everyone,,, The following is the history of my laptop.. i sent this off to F.S in the hop that they could finally fix my laptop. It has been in for repairs on more than 1 ocassion and im still having the same problem.

Currently the machine is in for repairs (6 weeks)
So after all of the above I left the laptop in for repair with F.S. Thats 6 weeks ago now. They had to replace the following and it has taken them 6 weeks to do it

    A new screen
A new inverter (connects screen with motherboard)
    new hard disk
    new mother board
    new DVD drive.

The only thing that hasnt been replaced is the memory and outer case..oh and the graphics card. Is this usual low quality for F.S computers ?

If I new that my machine would be in for repairs for 10 weeks i wouldnt have bought a F.S. Im really really angry

What should I do now ? they are getting the DVD drive in the next day or so and they probably have the 2 day tests to do. Do you think I will have continued problems when i get it back ? the warrenty is up in August 2005.

Wow, that's terrible luck. If it's still bad when you get it back, I'd demand a replacement.

I replaced the memory myself so its one completely usless computer bar the graphics card. I wont be surprised when i phone them in a few days that they say they need to order in a new graphics card.

The whole process would break your heart. I am just hoping that I get the laptop back in the next week or so (highly unlikely) and when i do get it back i wont have any more trouble.

Is this common for a Fujitsu Siemens or have I been really unlucky.

Plus do you really belive the Fujitsu Siemens technical support when they are telling you that they are replacing the above parts (or are they just telling me that on the phone while they machine is sitting on a shelf somewhere doing nothing) ?

Can someone tell me if XP Professional caused all these hardware components to fail or is it just a co-incidence of hardware failure on their own???

Be very wary of the structural integrity of the unit when you get it back. I had on-site service for a multitude of repairs to my S7020 unit and the unit began to look like it was several years old and tossed around within a few weeks. Every component creaked, the hinges were loose, stress cracks developed, keys popped....and all the repairs didn't solve the problem either :-(. I am assuming you meant to write the warranty is up in August of 2006, so I'd go over the unit very carefully to make sure it still feels durable.

They told me that there was only a 1 year warrenty with the laptop so its up in August 2005. Im not really looking forward to see the state of this laptop when it gets back. But they did say on the phone that I would have another 6 - 12 months warrenty with the new parts.

Its a complete nightmare.. I need this machine for work. I could have bought a Dell and had proper reliablity.

Im going to phone Siemens tomorrow but I dont really know what my rights are and what I should be getting.

Im going to ask them for a replacement until my laptop is fixed
Im going to ask them for a longer guaranteee , e.g 18 months !!

I dont know if the above is realistic but the Fujitsu Siemens laptop is causing me severe stress.

They could get the DVD drive, install it and then find out there is another fault with another component and I will have to wait another few weeks. i cant afford to wait another day let alone weeks. I have work to produce

Saying I do get it back, there is every chance that within several days the computer could have problems. If this happened I could have a fit

After spending 2000 euro's on an amilo d1840, they supplied me with a notebook which was configured with a default failure namely, the ATI 9600 in combination with the motherboard had a conflict with the s-video output, which resulted in b/w output. (they knew that!)
So that motherboard had to be replaced immediatley. including the ATI.
When i recieved the revised laptop ( after 6 weeks!), the outerside was damaged, my HD drive wasn't functioning in smart modus anymore.
So I had to resend it! another 2 weeks!

Start up on battery power was impossible, due to the battery capacity in combination with a pentium 4 ( average shutdown time on battery (35 minutes with a new battery).

When rendering in After effects or Premiere, the laptop got overheated and shuts down, even with an external extra fan!.

2 days after my garantee had ended, my HD gave an terminal error, It broke down. (12months and 2 days).
    I Had to replace that (170 euro's).

Now in the 14 month of me owning a amilo d1840 my adapter has exploded, and because it's an 20v 8A 4 pins adapter (which is unreplaceable by an generic adapter) I have to wait for 2 weeks for an new adapter which costs me 120 euro's.

This is probably the worst laptop I have ever owned! THis product is a shame for a company like Fujitsu.

No reasonable support from fujitsu allthough they knew this notebook had these problems!

In my comprehension this is no service, or good publicity for fujitsu, SO fujitsu, what are you people going to do about this! I could use some support for spending 2500 euro on your faulty product!!!

Waiting for months for notebook repair is painfull. Mine was 3 weeks (plus 1 week wait because of xmas & new year technicians holiday) and it drove me nuts.

Notebooks today seems to be different from notebook in the old days. Maybe because of stiff competition, new notebooks look great but made out of cheap components and cheap labour (is there anything NOT made in China?)

I had a Sony notebook which couldn't charge the battery and bad screen and the battery seems to last a little over a year (always pass the warranty period by about a week or so) and it is sooo expensive.

My next notebook purchase (not anytime soon) would probably be a Toshiba....... since my old one never give me problem.
It was a state of the art 386 machine with 8.4" TFT active screen :D
