Hi all
Ive got a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E7010, its about a 3 odd years old, it worked fine until .....
during use it froze........i rebooted it and the following symptoms now occur ..
When the laptop has been off for a while ( few days) upon bootup
...the fan kicks in, laptop tries to bootup, i enter the 4 digit pin, and if all this is done quickly it gets stuck on the "Fujitsu Siemens screen" , sometimes you can still hear the fan working whilst stuck on this screen.
if i try to reboot it at this stage, upon reboot i dont even get the key symbol on the little LCD display to enter my 4 digit pin, when i try to enter the pin i cant hear any bleeps like i would normally, the fan continues to run, the screen is blank and on the LCD display you can see he power supply symbol ( bat or mains) and a circle with a "z" at an angle in it.
Any ideas???
cheers all

It could be a number of things. RAM, HDD, Power or BIOS.

ive changed the HDD , put additional stick of ram in, battery seems to charge fine, ive tried it of the mains too.

When did you put the additional RAM in? Before or after the problems started?

hi,
i just got one of these 2nd with no OS so i installed XP which went on fine but after an hours useage it decided to freeze. so tried to reboot it but all i got was a blank screen. if im lucky i can get a fujitsu screen but no further. i get the circle with z, battery symbol and a flashing FDD symbol.
i havent changed any hardware.
they must not like this time of year!!!lol

It could be that the laptop on bootup is looking for the factory installed partition which may not be present anymore. Do you have any OEM recovery cd/dvd's? Have you (devils e7010) removed the extra RAM you fitted and tried booting with out? also try removing the HDD and see if the same things happen without it, if it does then your HDD could be goosed! Lastly try flashing the BIOS.
