I'm planning to buy a new notebook soon and I've narrowed down my choices to either the Fujitsu U904 or the new HP Elitebook 1040 G1. The U904 looks beautiful, but I wonder if it's as sturdy as the new 1040 G1, which apparently has a unibody aluminum design. I'm also wondering which of the two would be more linux friendly.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

If you want to run Linux, I would avoid Fujitsu. Reason being, all Fujitsu laptops need their so called Fujitsu-exclusive 02B and 02E drivers to work properly. I doubt most Linux flavors have these drivers written for the latest Fujitsu techs.

Thanks for the reply. Since I posted my question I found one mostly positive review of linux on the U904: Chris Ball » Fujitsu Lifebook U904 review
Overall now I'm leaning toward the HP 1040 G1 or the new Lenovo Carbon X1.
