Hi everybody,
I finally bought the S6210 and have had it for nearly a month. Initially I ordered it at PortableOne, but although they were very kind, their service is a little messy. I guess they had too many orders and are overwhelmed. I don't know. Anyway I finished ordering mine from JR, even without the fancy upgrades I had initially thought of. This had the advantage of keeping nearly 500 bucks in my pocket...![]()
A few days before I ordered the machine the Vaio S Serie was out and I was almost tempted to switch, but then I read the mixed review on another site (which pointed to heat and noise) and I kept my faith in Fujitsu.
Now my impressions are also mixed: I believe there are good things about the S6210, but I am sometimes appalled by the lack in detail and user friendliness. The loudspeakers are simply awful, the led-panel with the indicators is just useless (you cannot tell if the machine is being pumped up when the lid is closed), even the power cord and other details are just not well thought. Also the whole case and built does not give the impression to be very sturdy.
Maybe I should not complain, given that I paid 'only' 1600 dollars (with WinPro), but, on the other hand, these are really small savings.
The screen is good, but I have trouble finding the correct inclination: if I am sitting with somebody who is shorter than me, we are constantly playing with the inclination in ordered to have more brightness. The TFT screens don't have such a problem (but they also are not as bright as the CV screen).
Well after these and a few other complaints (you know your neighbors grass is always greener) I finally are settling in with my Fujitsu and start to appreciate some of its qualities. I will see what happens in four years when I will have to get a new one. Meanwhile I will live, well, with this one.

hey there, that's surprising that you would have had issues with P1, but every case has its different circumstances I guess.
Welcome to the world of "it's not perfect, but good enough". I've never used a gadget or laptop that has *everything* I want it to have or works in every way I wish. I love the ThinkPad T40 I have. But darn, I wish it had a built-in multiformat memory card reader...or even just an SD card reader. I wish the IBM would put a Windows shortcut key on the keyboard too. And I wish the screen had a slightly better viewing angle. But, am I happy with the T40? Absolutely, love it to death, if there weren't small things I wish were changed then I couldn't look forward to the next best thing []

What type of memory card reader does the Fujitsu S series come with? Is it SD or multi format or what?

Hi Abaxter,
let me put it this way: people at P1 were very polite and wanted to be helpful, but I found the customer service in place a little amateurish if compared to other online services (and you need not to be jr or newegg to do a better job, I have run a site myself).
I appreciated their efforts and kindness, though. A rare thing in these days.

I think that's fair. They're a small shop without the expensive call center.

Amateurish??? We purposely have the phone routing system unplugged because we do not like keeping people on hold and are constantly commended for doing so, I tried calling your so called professional places and after finally getting through to someone they had no idea about the products and told me to get specs on line and/or call the manufacturer, I am still waiting to hear from my dedicated rep at JR, its been a couple of hours now. Everyone who picks up the phone here at P1 knows more about the products we offer than most of the manufacturers technical support personnel, so I cannot get help but get defensive by your comment. Do you think that the person who sounded amateurish to you just did not want to pass you off to someone else and tried his/her best to get all the information you required by chance?
quote:

I personally found the support at Portable One to be grade A, one of a kind, 2nd to none.
I will definately buy all of my future laptop stuff from them! -
Hey, I am sorry you are having such a reaction. There was no stonewalling on my side. Bsides, if I were running an ecommerce site, and I did ran one for a few years, site I would appreciate the comments and do my best to improve.
I also did mention my appreciation for the quality of the human interaction with P1. No doubts about this. But I what I wrote before. Does it mean that I would not buy from P1 in the future? No, but I would know that I would need to do some follow-up. That's all.
My best advice? Do not try to copy jr, but review some of the customer servic processes and web site set-up.

I just bought a laptop from Portable One and found their service to be the best! I loved that a person, not a machine, picked up the phone. And whenever I left a message, I was called back right away. I would definately recommend them and certainly buy from them again. Tbanks Ivan!

I found PortableOne to be very argumentative. And quite proud of their ability to sell a notebook with an improved HD. They argued that the $100 premium (over their own price, if you purchased the drive as a stand alone part) was due to the difficulty they had in installing it.
I don't work here; I'm a consultant.
