Is there a price drop on the Fujitsu s7010 looming in the near future?

The price on that system from portableone.com (the way I want it) is about $1900. Is that too much for a system with integrated graphics and based upon the older Dothan system?

Is it worthwhile to wait a few weeks for a price drop?

Are there other places besides portableone.com that allow customization of this notebook? I can't find another webpage that will allow me to change the spindle speed to anything other than 4200.

    Thanks

    Vit

If your not in a hurry, I would wait.

I'm not sure if the price will drop that much (if at all), but you may just like the refresh configuration better.

I can't answer your other question, but I'll be getting my Fujitsu from P1 most likely (Canadian retailers are only given 2 standard model options).

Would you mind elaborating on that comment?

I'd like to see the S7010 come with a card reader. Hopefully we'll see than in an update. Another nice update wish is to have an S7011 as an option.

Hopefully we'll get some news soon.

manufacturers are not clearing away old models, just some price drops here an there that come after a model has been around for a while since it's not anything really that new, just like when dothan came out a short while ago, manufacturers didn't clear away banias platforms.
the new platform is practically the same when it comes to performance, and intel recognizes that, this is why their set pricing for the 2 platforms are identical for the same aproximate speed! aproximate speed because sonoma has 133 fsb and thus processor speeds jump by 133 increments not 100 like the old line, ex: 735(old)=1.7GHz=100x17 , now 740(new)=1.73GHz=133x13
