So, in upgrading the memory (and soon hdd) on my new u904, I had to remove the feet and little screw covers from the bottom of the machine. I've managed to retain all but one of the screw covers, which flew off somewhere. I called Fujitsu to ask if they could be ordered. Answer ? Yes. For 71 bucks. + 12 in shipping. Just for some rubber feet.

Does anyone know of anyplace to get these things for less money? I searched ebay, but they aren't specific to my model.

No, but you could check with any laptop repair place, or even a watch repair place.

For the feet, I would suggest looking at alternatives. For example, stick on feel that do not cover the screws, and might even give just a little more clearance to aid air flow.

So - what did it look like with the bottom off?

My P770 has to split at the keyboard, and there are a couple of ribbon cable that pull out if you are not comfortable. Anything similar?

The U904 is DEAD easy to upgrade. Yes, you have to peel the feet off , but if you're careful (not like me! hah) you can put them back on. There's 6 screws to undo, and once the case pops off (easy peasy), the battery, hard drive, and memory slot are easily acessible. It took about 30 seconds to undo the screws > remove cover > install the SSD. And another 10 seconds or so to put the cover back on. Nothing to finangle around with, or move about inside the case.

Since the speakers are rubbish, I've actually been contemplating removing them and putting something else in... as they are also accessible with the bottom case on. A upgrade of that level would certainly void the warranty, however.

No... I've been thinking about doing that. There are some small hurdles to overcome in doing the speaker upgrade.

No. If you flip the computer over so the hinge is at the top.. it's just the top two feet, if I recall correctly. Either way, 2 feet.

I just pried them off with my finger. Put them in a plastic bag to retain their stickyness, and they went back on in a few minutes. They haven't fallen off yet..

It's the little tiny circular screw covers that I needed replaced, as one flew off when I was pulling it off.
