I been looking for a really mobile laptop for a while and i narrowed my choice down to Fujitsu's S6230B. However to my dismay, I recently realised that it does not have a S-Video port. Is there anyway I can connect to my TV with sound because I want to connect my laptop to my TV to watch shows and stuff.

Also are there any real differences between S6230B and S7011B other then the screen size? I mentioned that because the S7011B has an S-Video out cable and only a bit heavier.

    Thanks

There is an S-video on the S6231, at least the model we have here in the USA. Not sure where you are cause it's not called S6230B here!
Have a look for your self:

As fo difference between the S6 and S7. the main difference is the screen. And that the S7 come with a bit faster CPUs, but not really that important of a difference.

There is a TV out but it is not S-Video, however an adapter cable is included to mate with an S-Video cord, so you can still output to TV.

There's no huge differences between the S7000 and S6000 other than size and the fact you might get faster processor speed options and the S7000 has a pointing stick in the keyboard...for me that's a big deal.

After telling my credit card company the charge from p1 is ok, they ordered my 6231 from japan on wed 3/30, and it should be customized and arrive by the 13th. (10 business days?)

My search ended with the 6231 thusly. 3 years ago I bought a $799 toshiba. Couldn't believe the low price, never had a laptop before. Quickly found out that the battery barely lasted an hour and transporting the 5.5 lb thing along with power adapters made for a heavy backpack. I put a wifi repeater in the back of the house so I could surf on the back porch, but the screen was too dark to view outside.

First keywords for searching for a new laptop last summer were "longest battery life". Quickly found the P7xxx series. Went to Frys and didn't care for the small keyboard and wide screen. Next step bigger was the S6xxx series. I in no way view it a desktop replacement. I will take it with me often. In the past year I could have used it while I was in waiting rooms at the hospital, auto repair, tax advisor, jury duty, work, in the back yard, kitchen table, etc. My toshiba's battery is so shot it barely lasts for the short 1 minute trip from my office desk to the recliner in the living room. (both places where I have AC power adapters for it)

drw, I bet this time you will have a better mobile experience! Let us know how things work out for you.

By the way, 10 business days aint that bad for them to order from japan, ship japan to P1, and then ship P1 to you. Some other manufacturers require 10 days to just configure your laptop here in the US (Dell and HP spring to mind!)

The only difference between buying a Fujitsu in Canada vs the US is that you cannot order customized configurations.

I believe the s7000 series is the one without s video.

Went by Fry's tonight to look at the 6231 and the one word that comes to mind is "YUM"! Would be nice to have a PCMCIA TV tuner for catching tv over the air while in undisclosed locations.
