I got my N3510 delivered just about 3 hours ago and I cannot stop being amazed at he screen. Its brilliant. Makes my Inspiron 8600 look like junk. Here are some of my first thoughts and are quite similar to what has been previously posted:
* The unit is rock solid and sleek and I love the solid feel when I open my laptop.
* The best part of this laptop is the screen. I have always favored VAIOs for their screens, but this one is far better than any VAIO I've seen or owned.
* Heat IS a problem. The left side palm rest gets pretty warm after about 15 minutes of usage. The fan comes on and continues to remain on from that point except for really short breaks.
* The space bar does make that click sound but my Dell keyboard is only as good as this and so this did not bother me much.
* The 7200 rpm HDD does make a huge difference. I dont have the numbers yet, but I can feel the difference when I compare the speed to my similarly configured Dell, although I feel this is a reason for some extra heat.
* I have a dead pixel a little towards the left and top of the center but I'm still contemplating whether to go through the entire process of sending the unit back and waiting.
Will post more soon!

Oxy, thanks so much for your input on the N3510. Interesting to hear that the 7200RPM does help out a lot for this notebook. Please do post more and don't forget if you're ever interested in doing a full review you can make some $ doing it!

I noticed no difference in heat when I exchanged a 4200RPM for a 7200RPM on the N6010. Temp sensor reads almost the same temperatures and I feel that the palm rest is actually cooler, although the bottom gets pretty hot, but you cannot use an N6010 on your lap anyway!
As for speed I noticed it mostly in windows start up times, I never timed it, but I could tell the difference easily! + during installations the difference is phenomenal. BTW Hitachi have some tools (ftool) on their website to do some performance tweaks (power consumption vs. performance) check them out. By default everything is set at an intermediate setting. I just cranked everything up to max performance.

I'm planning on some benchmarking and comparing with the laptops with Sonoma. A week or two from now, I'll have some results and if I still don't find a review, I'd sure love to do one!

I recieved my N3510 last Friday. I ordered it directly from Fujistu and I think I am glad I did. No dead pixels.
I agree that the laptop does get hot, but the left side palm rest does not get as warm as some people were complaining about.
I have been using a laptop cooler to help with the fan issue. Seems to help a little bit. I also turn my laptop off with it when I am done.
I have seen a lot of complaints about the keyboard, but I have no idea what they are complaining about. I think it feels exactly the same as the last 3 Dell laptops I have worked with. I have no issues with the keyboard.
The first thing I did when I recieved the laptop was blow away XP Home and load XP Pro. I downloaded all the drivers from Fujitsu and had no problem.
The only thing that I wish it had was a cover for the sd/memory stick
I bought my N3510 with the 5400rpm drive so I have idea if it's faster than the 4200rm or slower than the 7200rpm.
Oxy, how do you know the 7200rpm drive made a huge difference? Did you put in a 4200 or 5400 drive and run some tests?
If I had it to do all over again, I would still buy this laptop. -
Keyboards are a totally personal matter, what is great for one person is crap for another. But please don't compare a fujitsu to a dell and say they feel the same, that's is no pro [

Glad your happy with it. You said you're using a cooler. I tried one of those a few years back but hated the fact that it elevates the notebook an extra half inch off the table surface.
Just curious do any of you N3510 owners consider it to be portable. When I had mine I realized that it is really a hassel to carry around often. So I stuck with the N6010, and will buy some ultra portable (most probably the P7010) at the end of the summer when I really start requiring a notebook with me all the time.

I've had my N3510 for about 2 weeks . Got it from Portable One and could not be more pleased with the experience. It is my first portable and Ivan hand held me through the whole process.
No dead pixels.
The screen is indeed deserving of all the raving. Wow!!!
I use my N3510 on a table or desk so any warmth felt is with the heel of my left hand resting to the left of the touchpad. Its mildly warm but no distraction or discomfort. But I don't know how warm the underneath would feel if the unit was placed on my lap for any length of time.
The fan is a soft hum that is not the least distracting. Indeed its just a bit soothing.
The keyboard is an under rated virtue. I love the feel. My wife says she can type faster than ever with it and says that's the favorite part of the N3510 as far as she is concerned. Its my second favorite ( the screen is first ).
Its a solid unit. It has the same reassuring fit and closing (non)sound you get when you close the glove box or door of a Mercedes.
BTW I've got the 7400rpm upgrade.
The folks who have been poor mouthing the N3510 for heat, sound and, occasionnaly , screen, ought to be ashamed for petty nit picking. The only drawback I can see is the video card limits for gamers.
Got my new 3510!!
