I am in the market for a laptop and am interested in the Fujitsu N3510 and N3410. While the excellent screen and technical specs are encouraging, the primary draw for these models is the outstanding keyboard. (The other model I am considering is the IBM T4x)

The one thing that worries me is the various complaints about excessive heat in the N3510. I read lewdvig’s review in which he says heat is not a problem, but several other reviews and comments seem to say the heat is almost unbearable and above the norm. (For reference, I am/was currently using an Acer 2012 which certainly gets warm on your lap but not too hot.)

Can anyone comment about their experiences with the heat? Has this problem perhaps been fixed with the recent introduction of the N3410?

    Thanks!

    :eek:verheat: ?

The wrist area gets warm, but I don't think it's a problem. I suppose it's largely subjective, I'm sure a few owners will weigh in.

Firstly I don't find the heat to be a problem (I have a 3510 with a 2.0GHz PM and a 100G 7200RPM with 2GB RAM ,so a little pimped). As other have siad, the left side around the wrist rest can get a little toasty.
I will say however that the CPU runs at 50C @ 800MHz and when it switches up to 2GHz the CPU quickly runs up to 65 and then the fan spins up to full speed (not loud but still noticeable). HDD Temps are usually around the 38-40C mark. All these temps are well within specs.
For comparison though, the Dell XPS-140 we had on eval, (same spec apart from 60GB 5400 RPM HDD) the CPU ran at 35C idle and really never got much above 40. So IMHO the cooling on the 3510 is OK, but not great.
