I've been following closely the threads concerning Fujitsu S6120, S6210 and S7000 and the refreshes. As I am forced to order through canadian companies (my university is buying), I've been quite frustrated with my inability to find Canadian prices (fujitsu.ca does not list prices - at least none that I can find).
1)My understanding is that compared to the S6120D, S6210 offers a
a) CV screen (good or bad depending on the person)
b) a lighter computer by ~0.2 lbs
c) a slightly thinner case (~0.2")
d) 1 more USB port and no infrared port (would I need an infrared port?)
e) the option of a RW DVD bay
f) the option of a 60 Gb hard drive
Am I missing out on any else important?
The S6210 also only gives a 1yr international warranty vs 3 yr for S6120.
My questions,
1) Is there a canadian website that list prices for fujitsu's? And offers configurability - I can only get 4200 rpm on fujitsu.ca (grrr)
2) If I want a fujitsu with a 60Gb hard drive and a 3 yr warranty, is it better for me to buy the S6120D and upgrade to a 60Gb (is this even possible?) or buy the S6210 and buy 2 more years of warranty?
3) I've only seen these two notebooks on the internet and wondering if it's just me or if the S6210 has a keyboard that is more "white" in colour than the older version, or is it just looking that way in comparison to the darker inside?
Thanks for all the help!

Hi,
I googled around for a Canadian e-shop and had no look
I assume you found the four sites that are recommended by fujitsu.ca?
http://www.fujitsu.ca/products/notebooks/how/etailer.html
None of the above allow you to customize them.
You can buy from http://www.laptopsinc.com, but I think they will not accept your credit card if you are planning on using one.
I would give them a call, configure your system and ask for a price quote.
As far as infrared port is concerned, you dont really need one. The port allows you to sync your cell phone/PDA with the notebook, or use your cell phone as a modem.
I might be wrong, but I havent seen any 6210Ds. Maybe you are referring to the S7010Ds which is an updated version from the older S7010 model.
It looks like both models have the same keyboard color. The S6210 comes with the CV 13.3 screen, the S7010D comes without the CV technology, but with 14.1" screen.

Thanks annunaki! You are correct that there is no S6210D (I was trying to compare the older S6120 (D) model with the refreshed S6210 version (WHY the model numbers are so similar is silly: it gets too confusing! ). Thanks for looking around for canadian sites too!
Any thoughts on warranty issue and/or can you put a 60 GB hard drive in the S6120D?
All comments are appreciated!
I know you have to see CV screens to truly appreciate them (or hate them[]), but I'm wondering if there are other notebooks around that have a CV screen similar to fujitsu (none of the computer stores in town have fujitsu on display, but they do have toshiba, acer, hp, etc). If I could convince a store to bring in a S7000 and the refreshed S6210, would I be comparing apples to oranges if I looked at both screens to compare CV to non-CV?

check if they have sony,I think some of it have a similar feature, call brite**** something. I forgot what it was, go look for it anyway, so you get the idea of what the CV is, most people here/in leog don't recommend Sony for 2.5 reasons. 1. pricy(very obious) 2. proprietary 2.5. its name is very similar to Sorry.[
] May be I made the last one up, but I think you get it.

Hi,
Sony has a similar technology called xbrite. It has the same problems as the CV screens from Fujitsu. One half says its bright and crisp; the other half is annoyed by the glare.
I personally will buy the S6210 with the standard one year limited warranty. I guess it all depends on your demands and your life style.
Will you treat the notebook nicely and take good care of it? Usually defects happen within the first days/weeks.
If they let you, I would definitely take a look at both models. Maybe you wont like the CV screen or maybe youll fall in love with it. [8D]
As far as the hard drive is concerned, you can upgrade it later with a standard notebook drive.
Replacing/upgrading memory or the drive will not void the warranty.
I would buy the laptop with the least amount of memory and upgrade it myself to save a couple of bucks. The most money is made through warranty and upgrades on new machines.

Hope that helps.
