Hi,this is my first post and I'm trying to help a friend who is even more useless with computers than myself!
Basically.he owns a Fujitsu Siemens lifebook, model E8020D which belonged to his recently departed brother! The problem was that he did not know his late brothers admin password, so eventually I wiped his h/d using Dban and reinstalled xp pro sp2 on it for him!
The only problem,is that there is no sound.I d/loaded the audio drivers and reinstalled them but still no good.In 'sounds and audio' in the control panel it shows 'No audio Device'. I've tried again from device manager but that tells me that I already have the correct drivers.
If I click 'Run' and type in 'DXDIAG' -> Sound tab,it's a blank and the notes at the bottom read 'No sound card was found...should install a sound driver provided by the manufacturer'
The Display tab shows nothing, but says that the system is using the 'Generic' video driver."Please install video driver provided by the h/ware manufacturer!
I have also run Belarc adviser which shows nothing in the display and multimedia section!
Any help and advice appreciated by this 'silver surfer'!
