12.1" Fujitsu P771 - 1280x800 LCD, lightest ultraportable with ODD.
13.3" Fujitsu T901 tablet - 1280x800.
Either of these can do a eGPU setup via their expresscard slot. Then again, so can a Macbook Air 13" but with it's faster Thunderbolt port plus has a 1440x900 LCD. I'd go the MBA. -
thanks,
he is not interested in a tablet and I want to pick something that is built tough enough to survive for four years.

I personally like the Fujitsu A6020 LifeBook+!! It came out maybe 5 years ago. The blesseth LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST blesseth my mother with one of these at Fry's Electronics. They were approximately $800 at the time brand new. If it were not for the battery pack and DVD writer gone bad, it would still be worth $800 or so. That is how good these things are. In any case, I have prayed that it lasts me forever forward. It seems like I am lucky that my request is coming true so far seeing that people have gotten me items along the lines of iPad to MacBook Pro and I have honoured my mother and my father with them instead of keeping it to myself
