    1. I misplaced my recovery cd. Can I format my laptop without the cd? And how can I do that? ( i am not that technical person so need to explain in english n not tech language 😂 ;)

    2. After formating, my applications all will be lost ? Eg: MS Office, Internet security, etc. (that I paid for)
    (No cd)

    Pls help me thank you.

Before doing anything else, backup everything you feel important. Running recovery or formatting the computer wipes it clean, it will delete all your pictures and documents so have them on USB stick or drive.

    1. Yes you can.
    2. Yes they will be lost. That's pretty much the idea of formatting the PC, getting rid of everything unwanted.

    Longer explanations:
    1. You can do the reinstallation with a regular OS disc too. Just make sure it matches the COA sticker underneath your laptop. You still need to find a suitable disc somewhere. Be it XP, Vista, 7, or 8 disc...
    2. Most of the programs can be reinstalled if you have license codes available and those can usually be dug out of the computer one way or another. Finding the installation programs can be tricky for older programs.

If your laptop has a recovery partition, that could be used to reinstall system.
