yay! [ :)]

Now all I have to do is figure out how everything works like using WiFi at home (I'm picking up this other person's signal instead of mine).

Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for helping me make purchase. I'm quite the paranoid shopper so I tend to ask more questions that most people can tolerate.

So once again, thanks for all your help.

Make sure your routers wi-fi is on, as well as the Laptops.

Well, I've played around with the software enough that I think it's almost completely good to go for me. Very happy with my purchase (although it would have been nice if Fujitsu provided an accident warranty like Toshiba, IBM and Dell do).

Also, I think I'm blind. Where is this power management software the manual says the s6231 has so I can permantly adjust my screen brightness setting? The only power management I have seen in the desktop one where you choose when everything foes on standby.

Thanks.

I've used the FN + function keys to adjust brigtness. FN + F6 lowers and FN + F7 increases. I'm not sure if there's any other way to adjust it.

ok thanks. That is what I have been using the manual says there are other ways. Unless I've been reading it wrong.

Thanks again. [ :)]

Is the HD on the S6231 suppose to have a clicking sound. It seems mine is making that sound all the time.

I'm guessing it's normal and a disk scan should tell me if there are any problems but I'm curious as if anyone else has this (since the review I read said the s6231 was very quiet).

Thanks.

If you're clicking when you start a program or clicking on a link, I have the same problem and I submitted a separate post on this subject yesterday. Mine only occurs whicle in IE not while using Firefox. Apparently there's a fix by going through the sounds option in the Control Panel.

Well, to make a short story shorter (unrelated to my clicking HD) I uninstalled something I shouldn't have and Fujitsu has very friendly customer service.

Their extra warranty plans still leaves something to be desired (as I have stated earlier) but I am really glad I chose Fujitsu.

quote:
I uninstalled something I shouldn't have

and what was that? I wanted a clean as possible base install but without installing from a real winxp cd and taking my chances with the driver cd (which ordinarily wouldn't be a big deal unless drivers need to be installed in a certain order and you don't know about potential pitfalls).

So the first thing I did was uninstall:

The Symantec family (antivirus2004, livereg, liveupdate 1.9)
Quicken 2005
MS Works
Google Toolbar
Acrobat Reader 6.0
MSN Explorer
Windows Messenger

Then I promptly installed:

Acrobat Reader 7.0
Google Toolbar 3 beta
Office 2003
Paperport 10

Moving my data via a usb 1.1 harddrive took 1.5 hours. (8,000 files, barely fits on a dvd. I scan everything)

We get deliveries at work and one driver in particular looks like a speed freak and I can just imagine what goes on in UPS/Fedex sorting facilities. I was glad to see the big red label on the box "GLASS Please handle with care"
