Well its been about a week since I got my new S7020D from PortableOne and I'd like to share my initial impressions, this is not meant to be a review at all.
-adding a fingerprint reader and 60GB drive bumped up the total by 100 dollars, but by going through portable one I got free integrated bluetooth and WinXP PRO.
-Upon opening the box and firing up the unit, all I could say is wow....NO BLOATWARE!! Only thing installed was AdobeReader6.0 which I deleted and added 7.0. It came with a limited version of Quicken also, but unlike others (DELL, HP) I had no other junk installed, so I didnt have to worry about reformating.
-This is my first laptop and weight was a big factor in my decision process. The laptop weighs about 4.3lbs and if you take out the CDRW Drive, weight goes down to around 4 lbs. Still for some reason it feels heavy, I was expecting a lighter feel, but then again its my laptop.
-The atheros WIFI is awesome, it picked up my home network instantly and has never lost its connection. (Portableone told mw the Atheros version outsells the Centino version 20:1)
-Screen: Its nice and bright/vivid, but nearly impossible to use outside due to glare, and no dead pixels!
-Keyboard, no flex in my opinion very nice
-Its quiet, the fan hardly turns on, a little hot to the left of the fingerpad.
If there are any particular questions you have, let me know...All in all Im happy with my purchase so far

How does it do with heat if on the underside? Is it comfortable to use in your lap or are there any warm areas in the wrist area.

I've never used an S7000 series but have used the S6000 series and absolutely loved those machines. The Fujitsu CrystalView screens are definitely gorgeous. Overall just a great brand and good move in buying from P1, excellent shop.

Yes a little heat is noted on the underside, but isnt that common with most laptops? I ask because this is my first lappy, and I expected some heat, not too bad
The warm areas on front are on the left side of the touchpad (left wrist) again not too bad but definitely noticable.

    That's the Hard Drive region.

You cannot expect with todays laptops a completely cool running laptop, but I guess the bare minumum to ask for would be that the hand rest and keyboard area isn't too uncomfortable. The underside isn't too bad, since you won't be using it on you lap all the time (not comfortable or healthy to do so) + placing a laptop on a soft top (clothe, bed) isn't too good of an idea since it will block some vents and limit heat exchange.

The thinner the laptop, the more the heat. My thinner T41 felt much warmer than my T42.
