Alright gang, I have access to info on new Fujitsu machines. I don't know any more than what I'm about to post, so please don't ask [} :)]

The B series will get a 12" touchscreen at the end of May, early June

The N6000 will either migrate to Sonoma (PM) or offer it as an option by the end of June.

The P1000 will be updated to the P1500 by the end of June. It will be a covertible style.

The S2000 will be refreshed with an AMD Turion by the end of July.

The S6000 and S7000 refreshes are still coming, now scheduled for late July and late June respectively.

    Enjoy!

I am sort of glad that the N6000 got such an upgrade. I wouldn't have been too happy if they offered an AMD option just a few months after my purchase, cause I believe that the best CPU for a DTR is an AMD. A P-M will sure be nice with less heat and less fan noise, but the P4 is just fine too. I am guessing that the case wont change much just as we saw with the asian models.

I guess people waiting for the S6000 are the unhappiest among the group. That's quite a delay over what was late March at first!

I think this is worthy of a sticky, especially that we don't have any at the moment! [ :)]

If the 90% graphics increase still isn't going to play the most demanding 3d games which require dedicated ati/nvidia gpu then why bother waiting?

I went to the shops today thinking i would buy the N3510. I checked out the N6010 again..and im just too attracted to the big 17" despite the weight!! I cant decide!! Now you tell me theres going to be a PM version of the N6010 in June..What should i do? A PM version would be nice, but assuming its going to be in the same case, then the weight factor should only be a little bit lighter. But battery life should improve.

I can't wait to the end of June, i will be leaving asia by then and wont get the good deals. What should i do? Stick with the P4 version?

Right...I too agree that the most interesting update is the PM for the N6000, seems fitting. Shame there's no movement on an N3510 with a 128MB video card.

About the weight of the new N6000. It seems to be pretty much unchanged. I was looking at the spec of the japanese models that have been already released weighing 4.5kg ->9.9lb, so almost no change.

As for battery life. From what I understand the battery has less juice, and actually less life than the current P4 model. If I am not just misunderstanding things this will be a big bummer.

Things I noticed on the japanese models:
    Express Card.
    X600 or built in option.
    DDR2.
PM and celeron M. I couldn't find a new P4. (maybe they are keeping the P4 for the US?!?)

    Here's a link to fujitsu's jap site: http://www.fmworld.net/product/hard/pcpm0504/biblo_loox/index.html
    (translate in google!)

Orangeguy, didn't you provide some news a few weeks back about these new N6 equivelents? If I remember correctly you mentioned something about Turion options. I cannot find anything refering to that. Do you know if and where these models will be available?

If it were me, I'd wait for the PM. It will run cooler and offer a little bit better battery life, even with a smaller battery. Might be a touch lighter too, but not a huge difference. The only problem is these aren't hard dates from Fujitsu and it could push back, just like the S series has.

PRice would drop on what, the N6? Not really, they'll just replace it, Fujitsu doesn't have a bunch of stock sitting around. As for gaming, it's hard to say, the computer hasn't even been announced by Fujitsu yet, LOL.

There will also be a Turion option out in Japan, not sure about the states though. But i think i have given up waiting for the N6 with PM, might go for the N3 instead. But now i have been met with unexpected expenses. The people at the shop told me i have to pay an extra US$150 for international warranty!

This wait is painful. But then again, it's not the competition offers much better... I am suffering on a 2+ year old Dell and even the newest machines will only give me a small bump in performance. Part of me wants to wait for the dual-core models, but I suspect the early ones of those will have their own limitations.

June for a new S7000, delivered? I guess I'll wait.

    Ugh.

Hey i gotta question, when u said the s6000 will be refreshed, do u mean the s6000 series, including the s6231? If so, how much better do u think it will be? I've been wanting to get this one for a while now, but i feel like i should wait.

    Rixo out!

I know there is another thread about the S6231 vs the 7011, but I am curious as to why people seem to be favaoring the 6231 as opposed to the S7020 which got some great reviews in the previews, and is basically the same weight (.08 pounds heavier with battery/optical drive), yet has a bigger screen? Is there something I'm missing here?

Im not sure whether this will add more to the fact that a new N6 or even a new N3 may be heading our way soon..but the local shop sdown here have just dropped the price on both the N6 and the N3, all models down by US$130.

Just saw a further drop of US$100 on the N6 model! Retailers trying to offload stock before the PM model comes in? This price drop makes a difficult decision for me. The N6 is now only US$90 more expensive then the N3 that i originally planned to get. I absolutely love the 17" screen, but a bit worried by its fans! Do you think it would be bothersome working with this machine in a library? If the price gap wasnt so close, i would have gone for the N3 because of its PM chip and lighter weight. But now the N6 has crawed close into my affordability zone!

I have had the hardest time narrowing down my choices to a fujitsu E8020D and others. If anyone has anything to say, good or bad about this notebook, or even just the E8000 series (E8010, E8010D, E8020), please post something. Thanks.

Any idea about the P7010? Are they going with the new intel chipset utilizing the GMA 900?

The P7010 was refreshed just recently (about 3 months ago) with the faster 1.2GHz CPU. At the time the 9xx chipset was already out, but Fujitsu for one reason or another, chose not to use it.

So I guess it will be a while before the P7000 series gets a new refresh, going by Fujitsu's slow rate of releasing new models. I'd say definetely not before the end of the summer! But that's just a guess... ;)

:fujitsu: I anticipate my n3511's arrival this week, but is the graphics chip upgradeable without voiding the warranty, or is it upgradeable at all?

    Re: S6240

Do you know how it will be different from the 6231 (and the new 7020/D)? I was planning to buy the S7020D (like the track point and the matte screen), but am wondering what this new model will be.

    thanks-

I doubt the new 6240 will offer either of those features, I don't know any more than what I've already said in this thread. Just that it's nearly 6 months late!
