My s6220 went totally dead this morning, and my warranty is up to Oct, 2007.
I contacted Fujitsu support several months ago for my wireless switch problem, and it referred to Datavision in NYC as a place to repair, since this little college town doesn't have a fujitsu dealer. I didn't repair it last time, since it's pretty much a minor problem, but this time I have to. Just want to confirm with you guys, so that I don't waste my time and money. thank you guys!

forgot to say that my s6220 was bought from PortableOne and had several upgrades. Hope it doesn't hurt my warranty.

You will need to remove ALL "upgrades" if they were done by yourself rather than P1 or Fujitu, before sending the laptop in for repair. Otherwise they can invalidate your warrany.
The laptop has a serial number and a "configuration number" whch tells them exaclty how it was spec'ed when you bought it. So you need to put it back to that state ie remove any extra memory and put back in what you bought it with. If you changed the HDD to a bigger one, put back in the original one. -
Hey,
I don't have any experience with Datavision for repairs, BUT...
When I was buying, N6210 (with PM) had just come out, and its predecessor N6010 (with P4) was everywhere on display. I called Datavision and asked if they had N6210 in stock 'cause I wanted to take a look. They said yes. I came, and it was nowhere to be found. I asked a sales person to make sure it wasn't just hidden somewhere, he looked up, and said that no, they didn't have it in stock, but it was on order, which was probably the source of the confusion. Ok, I was getting ready to leave. But no, wait, we have N6010, why don't you get that? Oh um yeah it has P4, you know, hot, loud fan, no thanks. "Well actually there isn't a noticeable difference in heat between P4 and PM." MMM HMM.
True, it was a salesman talking, not a technician. However, if salespeople make such desperate lies - when they don't have something of value in their possession - do you think their repair people will be better or worse?
When I needed to get mine fixed, I sent it all the way out to California to T3. If you can deal waiting for it (one-way ground shipping coast to coast is 5 days), I suggest you use them. Eric even emailed me a month or so after the whole thing to make sure everything was still working well, is that awesome or what! He's [email protected]. If you contact them, tell him I said hi

second for T3, recommended by Ivan at Portable One who is THE customer service haha.
Eric is a good guy, and his last name is Ferrari. -
I liked working with T3 better myself =P
I wanted to buy a new keyboard because I wanted white keys (from N6010) instead of black, and guess what - they just happened to have a broken one lying around, so they replaced all the keys on mine for FREE! Yeah I did buy a mobo replacement, but saving $100 on kb totally made it not so bad!

Went to pay then to the pick up area. Lo and behold they had given me the display model. I know because it was clearly used and I happened to remember the ending of the serial number. They claimed it was brand new, not the display and refused to sell me a proper brand new one, saying they ahd already filled out the warranty paperwork. I said it wasnt my problem since I made it clear up front, I would only buy a brand new one, not their beat up display.
I forced them the bring the manager and he too was making some fake story. So I told him I would make a very public scene and make their customers aware of how they rip people off. At which point, suddenly a brand new camera was available.
So yes Datavision is a nice and very pretty store but at the end of the day it is run by the same shady characters everywhere. Its conveneintly located though, so I'd buy cables there, or batteries, ar simple accessiries - but for an important high ticket item like a laptop purchase or repair, I **** sure would not use them. They are not reliable and if they screw up, (which is a higher likelihood since they habitually cut corners) they will try to leave you holding the bag.
Is Datavision in NYC an authorized Fujitsu dealer for repairs?
