My Lifebook has suddenly stopped working. All was fine one minute, the next not.

The unit will power up, but will not load windows, or go into the BIOS. I have tried removing the battery/power lead, pressing and holding the on/off button, reconnecting everything and trying again. I can hear the fan spinning and my DVD drive spinning up and the HD spinning, but the unit nothing else happens. I have tried re-seating the memory and have swapped the memory modules with another laptop, but no difference. I am assuming it is the Motherboard that is away, but i am open to other suggestions :)

Does anyone else know any tricks, or is it time to write to Santa for a new laptop ?

    Thanks,

    DIBurnside

I see that the Lifebook C1020 is a pretty dated notebook. It could be that your motherboard is dead, or maybe your video card. If you still have warranty, you could send it to the support of F&S. If you don´t, then you´ll have to buy yourself a new Santa Rosa notebook, or you can ask Santa to buy you one. :)

I think it may be the motherboard. I am considering selling the notebook on E-bay as a spares or repairs, but was wondering if anyone has experience of doing so, and whether it would be better to strip it down to seperate components, or whether it would be more profitable to sell it as a whole unit.

    Thanks again.
